Hey guys, just curious...what do you guys do to take care of your eyes? I think my eyes are getting blurry from too much computer and cross stitch. I can't really avoid not being in front of the computer, cause my job requires that. So, pls...help guys.

I have problems with bright lights. I saw my doctor two days ago and she will be ordering me a pair of amber tinted grasses with foam cushening to keep the light and air out. These are mainly for driving and being outside, but if the the inside lighting is too bright I am to wear them inside as well. She said these will be good for computer use also. If the glare is part of the problem try putting some black construction board around your area. this will help to reduce the glare where you can see exactly what you will be doing.

hi donsky14 my primary care doctor said to look away from the screen occasionally and let your eyes stare around the room, then come back to your monitor . Also take ten or fifteen minute breaks occasionally just to rest your eyes, but of course that depends on your job. at home you could do that though. Also do keep your eyes checked as sometimes blurry eyes means you need'new glasses. Also blurry eyes can be a symptom of diabetes, as the sugar in your blood if there is too much bothers your eyes.

Ok, thank you for that Hatley...my sugar count IS kinda high. Cause I had a laboratory exam for that as part of my pregnancy package in the hospital. I might have to ask the doctor about that again.

I started having to wear contacts about 2 years ago and it was mostly due to the computer screen. I went to the eye doctor for my annual appointment not long after I found out I was pregnant and he confirmed what I had heard, that pregnancy can alter your vision, especially if you wear contacts. They go back to normal after the baby comes though. He didn't change my contact prescription because he said it wouldn't alter my vision too much, but it's a noticable change for me. Nothing I can't deal with and it's not blurry, but I can tell there is a difference.

Yeah I'm 5 months pregnant myself and I had read about that on some pregnancy websites and in a pregnancy book. I asked my eye doctor about it and he said it happens to a lot of pregnant women. I never would have thought pregnancy could affect the eyes too. It might be worth asking your eye doctor about it just to be sure that's what's happening to you.

While your eyes are not feeling well, try to put a lukewarm towel on them for 5~10 minutes. If the towel is not available at work, try to rub your hands, when they get warm, close your eyes putting them near the eye orbit; your eyes will feel better. Try!

donsky i am a reflexology graduate though i do not practice it professionally... so i know some basic massage that i can share with you. we have some reflex point around our eyes, from above the eyes to the eyebrows, below the eyes until the cheekbone area and of course including our temple.u can massage that by your middle and index fingers around 3-5 times or more. if u feel some pain means there a blockage...u can focus your massage there for the meantime until u feel relieved then move on again until the whole eye area is finished. of course there are still more technique on how to care for our eyes...but i hope this one immediately help u when ever u feel eye tiredness.

wowowie bystander!!! thats nice to know...i hope the damaged it caused in the pocket is not so big...yes as i said there is still other way or option we have to look into... whenever my technique wont help anymore. it means we have to finally seek science of medicine. and i think there are still some ways minor or major one somewhere out there that we still do not know that is also good for our eyes.

but of course bea, that's what holistic approach is all about. explore all possibilities and the ultimate objective is to find a solution to one's problems, particularly health. in these difficult times, being practical is approaching a problem from a neighborly and friendly way. somebody i know, a very popular spiritual healer, once said: when you come to me, you are 30 percent healed; when you believe in me, that raises the bar at 60 percent; and when i touch you, you are almost healed... and the almighty takes care of the rest. as what you were saying about massage, that is also very effective, but care should be given so as not to further aggravate the blockage, if there is any. so, go to experts like you.

Ow I rest my eyes whenever I feel it's tired. There are lots of ways to take care of your eyes. Simple stuff like proper positioning when reading, wearing protective goggles or eye glasses, exercises, proper diet. There are also gadgets to use to aide you in your cross stitch, like magnifying lens. I guess you need to have it checked regularly by an eye specialist to determine your needs. My mother has been diagnosed with eye cataracts but having been unable to do regular exams would not provide her the care she really needs for her condition. Now she's on medications and scheduled for surgery...

I dont take much care of my eyes.I sit in front of my laptop for hours.Nothing happened to my eyes till now.I eat more carrots and sleep for atleast 10 hours a day.I think this is sufficient for my eyes.Eat healthy food containing Vitamin A and sleep well. That's enough.

HI Donsky14 My eyes get a little blurry when I watch TV without the lights on mainly in my left eye which is weaker than my right I also wear reading glasses because I can no longer see small print and forget about reading medicine labels or aspirin bottles I guess as you get older your eyes start to get a little weaker depending on what you do on a daily basis The PC can be one of the culprits in people becoming near sighted I saw a short report on it a few months ago on TV

Hi Cherry, know what, my boyfriend is having the same issue with his eyes...he can't see clearly if there are no proper lights. His job involves computers as well...so yeah, they are really a culprit!

You should have photochromatic lenses as they darken while being on the pc. Also you could adjust the number of the lenses to suit the distance which as you know is neither short nor far. There are eye exercises which you can resort to even if you are not wearing glasses.

I'm thinking of going for glasses...but if you could give example of the exercises that can help our eyes, then that'd be great.

Remove your eyes from your computer and look at a distance abd back to pc.Do this a few times. Shift your eyes from left to right and right to left gently. Roll them gently. The whole idea is to give them movement as while on the pc they normally get glued to the pc in a fixed manner. Try these. Everything should be gentle.

My ophthalmologist usually advices me to just have the time to relax my eyes because it may help decrease eye strain. Maybe you should follow that as well. In my case, I hardly follow my eye doctor and I ended up having poorer eyesight each day so try not to be like me and try to listen to your eye doctor and everything will just be great. Happy mylotting.

From experience, I have learned that it's really important to find sufficient time to rest the eyes. You know your eyes, even your body, better than anyone. Don't use your eyes to the point of abuse. Any part of the body, for that matter, when used excessively or more than its share of being properly used, is abused. Abuse puts extra pressure to your eyes and may lead to the deterioration of its normal functions, like the blurring of your vision, which you are now experiencing. Blurring of one's vision may be a tell-tale sign of a more serious problem. It may even be symptomatic of a medical condition or health concern. Give your eyes what they deserve - enough rest. If your vision remains blurred, better see a doctor.

Hopefully it won't go worse than my eyes being just blurry. I don't wanna have my vision be badly affected.

yep, eyes is the most important i think. nowadays, more information is showed in the books, papers, and the internet.they all need our eyes to receive them.so i protect my eyes carefully. i am afraid of myopia.cause the glasses is too troublesome.so cutting down the time you used in the computer, seeing more green plant, is the best way to improve the situation of your eyes

Well, computers are sort of something that I can't avoid since its part of my job. But yeah, I did hear about looking at something green to rest the eyes.

if you use the computer alot they have anti glare in which you can put on your screen. It lessens the light. Also make sure you take breaks that do not require you to use your eyes (it does not make sense if you take a break to watch TV yet that too requires use of your eyes, Your light should nt be directily shinning towards your screen for than you have double light glare not good, Let your eyes rest too, within your schedule you need to have time to let your eyes rest.

Well I spend most of my time in the office, which requires me to be in front of the computer. And bad thing is they don't really have anti-glare here, and another bad thing, my co-workers likes turning off the light...like what their doing right now.

well, I need to say that my eyes problem is serious since I had near sight in my childhood. Recent years,it becomes worse day by day and I afraid that I'll be blind one day! Like other individuals, I got the eye problem because of too much book,TV and computer time before. I'm trying to avoid these stuff right now but seems useless...just let it be...

Yeah you know, whenever I try to think of other things to do that doesn't involve my eyes...I just can't think of any. Except sleeping.
