The Glass Bead Game, also titled Magister Ludi, is a terrific work. Hesse spends several hundred pages telling you about the game, and yet he never really tells you anything about how it is played. This is certainly (at least in my opinion) Hesse's finest work. It is tantalizing, enthralling, and frustrating.

i found it very good, but a bit cold compared to some of his other books. it was a long time ago i read it though. i was never frustrated by not getting the games details - i formed my own image and thought that was the intention. it was a long time ago i read it though.
