It is not good to be a software programmer, isn't it?

I've been a software programmer for two years in three company respectively. Now I've pulled out of this profession for three years. In retrospect it was not a good experience. I worked from 9:00am to over 8:00pm with one-hour rest on workday, and 4 to 5 hours on free days, about $300 without overtime wage. In the company, I undertook the posts of designer, programmer and document writer simultaneously. I had nothing for life - no time, no money, no family, no friends, no communication, no amusement and no future, and felt lonely and bewildered. Meanwhile, I found myself rigid in thinking and weak in speaking ability. Actually most people aroud me had the same feeling. We had a joke that we could judge whether a people is engaged in programming by his/her look. After two year's insistence, I finally gave up my profession. It was a horrible time, and I don't want to go back to this work anymore.

hi zfdavid006 you must be someplace else than california as computer programmers usually are well paid and love to do programming. but unfortunately there doesnt seem to be many'jobs open now for myson and his computer programming expertise. He loved the job and was laid off as the company had overextended itself. they wanted him back for awhile at half wages but he felt really furious with them for that and refused to go as they had mistreated him all the way around. he loved programming and was very good at his job. I think it has to be a real love affair between a programmer and his computer, and some just do not have that feeling.

That's why there are plenty of excellent progammers and best products in your country but we don't have. I felt I was just a machine then and must work hard for living. This is the reality.
