Are you making a statement or are you just after comfort

I will readily admit I am not the smartest dresser, around the house it’s always jogging bottoms and t-shirts some of which have seen better days, but they are comfy. When I go out I dress for comfort - jeans, trainers and usually baggy tops but it’s what I feel comfy in and never look scruffy or unkempt. But then I see people who are dressed up to make a statement often wearing something which either looks uncomfortable or not appropriate for the weather. Yes they may look smart but I do wonder how comfortable they feel.
It’s all down to personal choice so what is yours – do you dress for comfort or to make a statement?

These days it's all about comfort. I could spend the day in my pajamas if I didn't have places to go. When I do go out, it's jeans and a t-shirt of some sort. Even if hubby and I are going out on a date night or something it's still jeans and a decent un-stained top. Nothing major, nothing flashy.
Now 10 years ago it was a different story. I was the type who couldn't run to the gas station without applying my make up and making sure my hair was just right. I always dressed to impress, and often was quite uncomfortable... but in time you get used to it. I remember going out one night and wearing the worst shoes on the planet, they were honestly murdering my feet. I kept saying to myself "Pain is beauty, pain is beauty" and forced my feet to survive the night. After about a week of wearing those shoes, I grew numb to the pain and never noticed it again.

I think we all go through that stage where we do dress to impress, but then many of us grow out of it, becoming comfortable with who we are so don't feel the need to continually trying to make a statement. That's what makes me laugh when I see people I know who always go out dressed up to their nines yet it never really represents who they are.

I always dress to be comfy. Whether i go to work or out, i need to be comfortable. I have never and will never dress to make a statement. I love to look how other people dress and i have to say, most of what i see everyday, they dress to impress or to make a statement. I wonder why?

I often wonder why especially when people get dressed up to the nines for doing something as mundane as popping to the corner shop for a pint of milk. I sometimes wonder whether it's that they lack confidence in who they are that they need to try and respresent a false picture of themselves to the outside world.
