Lasik eye surgery getting its popularity recently, and many people are doing it now. Even a good friend of mine, he had done this surgery a couple months ago, and now he is totally get rid of his eye glasses and contact lenses. For me, I am still wearing my glasses and contact lenses. I just couldn't get my gut up to try this surgery. First of all, financially, it is expensive, even though I have my vision insurance to cover some percentage up. Second of all, it kind of scary to me, because some people said what if the surgery goes wrong, it would go beyond irreparable. What do you think of it?

I admit I would be afraid to try it, but if I had the money, I'd go for it. Thing is, with any eye surgery, it's always best to research and talk to different eye surgeons, and get information from your own eye doctor. Not everyone qualifies for this type of eye surgery. I think someday, when I have the financial means that will be on my list of things to have done with myself. It would be nice to never worry about glasses or contacts again. At least for hopefully a long time. Also, I know several people who have gotten the surgery. They all turned out fine and were pleased with the results.

I don't know, there seems to be a lot of cons to this surgery. For example, most only guarantee 20/40 vision and I don't think it corrects the type of changes your eye goes through as you age (which necessitates reading glasses), so you could end up with glasses anyway. Plus, if you have secondary aberrations (like I do), I don't think it helps much with those (where as my glasses seem to somewhat). Also, did you know your eyes can continue to change, thus making the surgery useless? My biggest thing with it though is you only get one set of eyes. If they mess it up, then what? You know?
