We wrere initially supported by our parents. Brought up by them and then we became financially independent. What drives you to think of financial independence?

Well, the first and most important is keeping your job. Beign financially independeant can be tiresome, but that is the only way to survive. I try my utmost best to stay independat by working with a budget and believe me, that is someyimes hell to pay. I like to be independanet, as i cannot expect others to take care of me.

Hi Saphrina, I agree to it taht we should not lose our job and remain stable. It is really troublesome to pay when your balance is less!! Best of luck with your finances!

hi unnatv again what d rove me as a twenty year old was to have enough say on my own behalf to feel like an adult person not an adult child, so I was working and could afford an apartment so I moved out. I went back on some weekends to visit but not to live. always when I did go back it was again like I was ten and was ordered about by my parents. seems like parents cannot accept a child grown up, they want to keep her young forever, sorry it cou ld not be done. Now I am 83 and am some what guilty of that with my own adult child my son who is fifty. being financially independent is being an adult, on your own, with being your own boss. getting your wings and beginning to take flight after leaving the nest.

Hey Hatley, that is a very valuable informtion you gave. That is the law of life that we have our own tendencies for a better life! I think thats fine what you have done. Also I think your dad migt have become happy that you have become independent and are growing up fast! We have to be on our own legs if we are independent financially. Thanks a lot!

I'm trying to work on my financial independence right now, too! But I currently live with my dad, even though I'm 19 years old! I pay all of my own bills, though: my cell phone bill, my car insurance, health insurance, credit card bills, gas, food, and so on. I just don't pay for rent (well, I give my dad $100 a month just to help him out, but that hardly constitutes as 'rent'). I'm finding it hard to be financially independent though, to be honest with you! It's hard when you're so accustomed to relying on your parent.

in a way,my parents told me about financial independence.but mostly,I urged myself to be financially independent.it stemmed when I was out of college with no job and no money.I feel jealous of those working individuals who have money of their own.it is very difficult that you want to eat or buy something and you can't because you don't have money for it.
