wanna learn photography

i am doing my architecture right now but very passionate about photography......i love it...i have a simple camera which costed me some what 6000 or so.. i wanna take a dslr n learn its feature which will me to click god and better quality pictures but its very costly....do we get second hand dslr's???..how do they work....i mean in working position??most importantly how much does it costs?? which colleges teach part time phoyography????i really wish to master this field...
