What is your favorite VEGETABLE?

Well, recently I asked you about fruits and I got tons of interesting responses, I discovered many new exotic fruits for myself. Then I started to think, that maybe I can discover some exotic vegetables that way too. Anyway, share your favorite vegetables with me, they don't have to be exotic or anything. I like tomatoes, I like to have them sliced with black pepper added or in salad with other vegetables. I also like cucumbers, because they taste great and are really light, so you don't have to worry about your weight. I used to like carrot too, but now I have an allergy to it, so I can't eat it. Another vegetable I like is potato (if it can be count as vegetable). There are like hundreds of dishes that can be made using potatoes. So now it's your turn to answer. What is your favorite VEGETABLE?

I like quite a few veggi's; broccoli, asparagus, okra (canned and cooked)...raw carrots, iceberg lettuce...lol But my favorite vegetable would have to be...asparagus and okra! Can't choose between the two :) lol

You've named quite nice vegetables! I like most of them, although I've never tried okra, so I have no idea what does it taste like. Thanks for sharing!:)

I can't think of a vegetable I DON'T like. I like them all. We have at least five veges with our main meal each day as well as a salad at lunch time. I love parsnips, pumpkin, swedes and corn on the cob, all preferably roasted. In fact I prefer most veges roasted. As far as greens go, I prefer Brussell Sprouts to Broccoli but eat both and I love fresh sugar snap peas cooked in their pods. I don't think I have a favourite veg. I like them all.

Hatley, thanks for the laugh. I'm sure you know I would never think of roasting fjaril. He's too precious! Swede is a yellow/orange flesh turnip with a much nicer flavour than the white turnip.

Thanks for responding! I think I like quite many vegetables in general too, but still there are some exceptions for me. I may like one vegetable when it's fresh, but when it's cooked, it can be not so pleasant for me.

Hi, Biomechanoid. My favorite would have to be sweet potatoes, broccoli, squash, butter beans, honey carrots, fiesta corn, cabbage, lima beans, sweet peas,(only if they are cooked by me). I like potatoes that are mashed up into homemade mashed potatoes. I like black eyed peas, only if they are cooked with butter the right way. I like collard greens, kale, mustard and turnip greens. I also like zucchini too.

Wow, you named more vegetables than I know! I've never tried lima beans and squash, but other ones are quite delicious, as much as I've eaten them. And those peas cooked in butter are yummi! Thanks for sharing!:)

I love taking salads. And some of my favorites without which I cannot take salads are Cucumber, onion and tomato. So,its almost same here.I love to eat all the vegetables available in the respective season. But whatever vegetable I take everyday with my meals, there got to be a presence of potato in at least one item. If ever the potato is from the menu, I feel like missing something. I feel happy eating potatoes in different items: mashed, boiled, fried, mixed with other vegetables. And I think potato is the only vegetable that can easily adapt with other vegetables.

I totally agree with you! Usually my salad consists of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, some green and olive oil or sour cream as a dip. I also think that potato is the on that can be easily combined with other vegetables or even meat. I also need to have potato in every soup I eat, if there is no potato present, the soup isn't so nutritive. Thank you for your answer!;)

Hi. When I was young and still living in the province, we used to help our parents and grandmother in growing different kinds of vegetables. As such, I was raised liking almost all kinds of vegetables that are locally being produced here in the country. In particular, my favorites are carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, jack fruit (it's actually a veggie), squash and bean strings. I like to eat carrots raw. For cauliflower and broccoli, I like to eat them when steamed. For jackfruit, squash and bean strings, they are most delicious to me when cooked with coconut milk.

Hey! I had also helped my parents (and actually helping now too) to grow vegetables. We grew quite basic ones, nothing very rare or exotic. I used to like raw carrot too, but like I mentioned in the start of discussion, I have an allergy to it. Cauliflowers and broccoli are good too, we sometimes add broccoli to the soup, it fits there perfectly. Beans are also nice! Thanks for sharing!:)

Oh, sad to know that you have developed allergic reaction eating raw carrots. That's really unusual but yeah, it happens. I myself is allergic to medications containing aspirin.

Yes, it's really bad to the nth level. The doctors could not prescribe any medications without testing the possible effect to me. Also, pain killers do not work on me. I just pray that I will not undergo any major operations ever. As such will really become a big problem.

Hi Biomechanoid. My favorite is corn, and in all sorts of ways. Off cob, on cob, cream style, popped, cereal. Second to it is tomatoes, then beets, brussel sprouts, broccoli, eggplant. Oh, corn --with dash of pepper salt, maybe canola oil, butter, mayo.

Hey, PastorP! Corn is good, although not so popular in our country. Most of us mainly know it in the form of pop corn. But I've tried several dishes containing corn and I can return only positive feedback. Thank you for answering!:)

curry leaf is the colloquial English name for it. It is native Indian subcontinent plant. Many others normally don't use it. Scientific name : Murraya koenigii Alternat name: Sweet neem/sweet margosa So curry leaf is the English name.

do you know that the name "curry leaf" is not exactly the name of the leaf? It's called curry leaf because we always use them in making curry.

i really like to eat vegetables and the most i like is the vegetable cassava leaf.is typical vegetable in indonesia. I like because i could eatit without being processed or just boiled it. In our country (Indonesia) we call "LaLap". Cassava leaf contain a lot fiber and vitamins, especially iron contained in cassava leaves. But not too much should be eaten by people high blood because it would cause a stroke.

The eatable part of Cassava is the swollen roots. It also called as Tapioca, Yuca, Manioc, etc. Al gifani, put some turmeric powder and lemon and make them into small 2X2 cm size pieces of cassava and boil it. Heat 1 or 2 table spoon of oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves, then add the boiled and drained cassava. Hot and spicy fish or Beef curry is a nice combination with it :D Peace.
