Every year, hundreds of people die on their way to their provinces to celebrate Christmas with their loved ones. It is customary for Filipinos to go home to their provinces during the holidays. With their meager income, some people would opt to sail than to ride in a plane. The Maritime industry in the Philippines had experienced numerous sea accidents attributed to their unprofessionalism, obsolete ships and facilities, and greed. Many of their ships sank every year claiming hundreds of innocent lives. These ships ar sailing like flying coffins. They are overloaded, with ill-trained staff, and post world war II built. The government and the owner of these businesses should be responsible enough to give the best transport facility to the paying public, having safety and convenience as the primary concern and not search and rescue operation when there is a clear sign of negligence.
