REcently I've seen a couple of movies about people who actually chnged other's lives. One was Blind Side. It was based on a true story about a family who took in a homeless boy and made a huge difference in his life. He just finished his rookie year in the NFL! Then last night I watched the movie about the scientist who had a theory about fixing a disease. They faught it through until they pretty much found a cure! How cool is that? These movies are very inspiring... I hope to make a difference in someone's life one day too... do you?

I also like watching such movies. I like Blind Side very muc, but when I think of such a movie the first that always comes to my mind is Pay it Forward. This is maybe the first movie that made me cry. It is both sad and inspiring
What is the second movie's title?

I heard a lot about pay it forward, but did not see the movie. My son saw it I think. I cannot remember the name of the movie for some reason, but Harrison Ford played the scientist and Brandon Frazier played the businessman/father with the children that had Pompe disease.

Your talking about Extreme measures, or is it extraordinary measures? It's on of those.

we, in our own small ways, make a difference. if not in our very lives, that of our family, community and the bigger community, our country. one need not really need to be big and influential -- rich and powerful -- to make a difference. all that is needed is the passion to do things that contribute to the lives of others. as noted anthropologist margaret said, it only takes a few passionate individuals to change the world. for me, i write and promote the good things about my country and my people without expecting anything. you can see my humble work at http://pinoygnews.multiply.com/

You are absolutely right. It's not usually those who set out to change the world who have the lasting positive influence. IT's those who are just doing their best to be the best they can be and help others to achieve their best as well! thanks

I like movies like that. I watched Pay It Forward, which is a movie someone else mentioned. Have you seen Milk, Tongue Untied, or Longtime Companion. The are good movies about activism. And yes I want to change the world, too. My advice is to start small. Look in your phone book, find somewhere to volunteer, and make a commitment. Good luck!

I am already working on a project. I am wanting to start delivering "care baskets" to trauma waiting areas. We lived in one for over 3 weeks when my son was in a car wreck. I want to touch those who are hurting. I am still organizing it right now.

You are!
Just think of the difference you're making, by just being here.

Each of us in our trip through life change things, how far these changes travel we may never know. But it is important that you are aware that change is the result of your merely being here. This way what you contribute can be conscious and positive not just happenstance.

You are very correct. My thoughts are to always contribute positively. However, many times what we feel are negative circunstances turn around to be positive teaching experiences. Like the movie I saw yesterday, if the man's children hadn't had a terrible disease, he would have lacked the motivation to pursue a cure! That's where we get to make choices about how we will react to the things that happen on our journey through life! Thanx!!!
