Is our converter box shot?

We have one in our room and the cord on it is not in a good place so if someone steps on the cord the box goes flying off the tv. Well this has happened numerous times. But now when the tv is turned on you hear the sound but no pic, and what you do get as a pic is a blue screen w/ all sorts of electronic/computer gibberish on it. I hope it will be ok when hubby can look @ it... as we don't have money to really replace the box.

I absolutely hate to say this, but it sounds to me like the electronics inside the box might be fried. Now, don't take my word for this 100% because we don't have to deal with a converter box in our house. We have a typical cable box on one of our televisions and on the other one, it is directly connected to the cable in the house. The only people that I know that have to deal with a converter box are my inlaws and the only problem that they've had to deal with is that theirs doesn't want to pick up.

most likely..but i'd try changing out the cord first.
could have an internal pressure break from people stepping on it.
