What does it take to make you have a good clean up?

I've spent most of the morning vacuuming, and had a good clean up of my office which is in the garage conversion. I've been telling myself to do that for ages but kept putting it off. Later today I'm having a visit from a friend who has not yet seen this new house. That's obviously what galvanised me today. Do you only get round to things when you're expecting visitors?

Often this is what happens, I have a whole drawer full of excuses about not cleaning the house. But visitors are sure to get me up and going.

One of my mother's favourite sayings was, "Visitors are good for the house." She always took down all her net curtains and washed them before visitors came.

hE HE HE, Yes Jean, that usually happens to me. When I'm home , I am infront of my computer and could hardly find time to clean up. But someone visits I am forced to clan up.

The fact that I have anxiety issues including OCD and can collect things and let them clutter and it starts to look like something that requires an intervention more than a clean up at times. I'm working on it and do try to de-clutter regularly but you still might see me on Dr Phil some day...

Oh dear, hvedra. I'm sorry to hear about your problems. But well done for clearing up when you can. I can't give that as a reason for my procrastination - I just alays have much more exciting things to do, or perhaps I'm just lazy.

I do simple cleaning everyday as I stay at home most of the time, but when there's an expected guest, I would do a spring cleaning hours before the guest arrives. I would do dusting and spraying air fresheners mostly:)
