I Hope The Doctor Can Make Me Better, I Feel Terrible Today!

I'm off to see the doctor very shortly. It is all as a consequence of receiving my blood test results last week. I shall be treated for my anaemia but will probably need more tests as regards the under-active thyroid gland, just to be on the safe side. A friend of mine told me on Saturday that she has an under-active thyroid and it took 2 years for the right dose of thyroxine to be "found" for her. She said it's not always the case that weight starts to drop off either...but I'm not really bothered about that. I just want to feel better, that's all. I can't seem to warm up today and the weather is so grim. There isn't much light that comes in this house at the best of times but it's like being in a dungeon, it's so dark!
Have you ever been frightened of going to see the doctor, then it all turned out fine in the end? Or is it taking time for a correct diagnosis?

Just remember that most problems with health start with our stress.
What is exactly going on with your health? do you feel weak? stressed, tired?
Do you have chronic pain?
Weather can alter our mood and can make us feel terrible without any health problem.
Doing tests and worry about is not healthy either.
What is the major problem? Can you describe how you feel?

Sorry for the delay but you may have seen my subsequent post...I am borderline under-active thyroid but, currently, I am being treated for my anaemia with iron tablets, see how I get on with those.

Janey, I was not clear when I asked. I didn't ask about diagnosis, I asked about your symptoms.
Are they sure you are borderline deficient in your thyroid gland?

I havent had a thyroid test lately, but i could probably use one. I think that I would like to get one. I know my dad has had thyroid issues and lately I have been losing some hair, that is not really a bad thing though, my hair is quite thick.

Here in the UK if your parents have diabetes it tends to be that you may not get that but an under-active thyroid instead. The two conditions are very common in the UK. Both my parents have developed diabetes but only recently so it's quite bizarre for me to have developed (maybe) an under-active thyroid at around the same time. I'm not sure what the hair loss signifies, you sound like you might be short of something but I'm no expert so cannot say.

I do know about not wanting to go to the doc because you don't want to hear a diagnosis.
I didn't want to hear I might have lupus, but it turned out to be fibromyalgia - not better, but not lupus! I also guessed I might have arthritis in my hand and I did, I just didn't want to HEAR it...
Now, part of what I do to help it is not wash my hands with cold water in the winter - that makes it hurt worse.

Oh dear.
I believe my Aunty Enid has lupus, so what is fibromyalgia, I've never heard of that before.

Mmmm, yes, this is a dreary time of year here in the UK isnt it! I think waiting for tests and then waiting for the results is often as bad as the feeling ill in the first place because the anxiety affects our physical wellbeing as well as the mental/emotional side.
I hope your doctors appointment goes well and that they'll be able to find you the right treatment to help you soon.

So sorry for the delay in replying.
It is ongoing this thing with the doctors and I will book in for another blood test in a couple of weeks as I am now on iron tablets which I had to pay for. Not impressed!
