How do you feel about letting uninvited guests use your bathroom?

There are times when furniture delivery guys, or electricians or the mowers etc. ask to use the bathroom in my home. I know, when you gotta go you gotta go but I just don't like it. I envision gas stations and the conditions their bathrooms are left in. I feel icky cleaning the toilet after their use. Maybe I'm over sensitive. Anyone else have these issues?

No I don't think it's wrong to feel icky. I think it's wrong in most cases for them to ask. It depends on whether I know them, we've had the same lawn service for a few years now and know all the guys's names. We bring them iced tea or chilled ice water and they are welcome to use our bathroom tho only one has ever asked. They are trustworthy folks. I guess maybe because I grew up near NYC NY, I don't let strangers into my home and certainly not to use my bathroom. However, there are 2 gas stations about a mile away from our home so they can go there. If we lived out in the country, maybe I'd think differently. Also I work from home many times when Hubby's at work and our daughter's in school and repair people usually deal with me so nope, not coming in. Last time the roofing guy was here a worker askd to use the bathroom and I didn't like the look of him for some reason he really struck me as off somehow so I lied and told him we had a plumber due to come and fix it. I do trust my instincts and if he seemed okay, I might have let him. I did tell him where the gas station was so that's where he went. Our guest bathroom is also right next to my daughter's bedroom and it's really her bathroom as we only have 2 so I think that's part of it too. Maybe I am abit meaner than I thought I was, but I'd rather be cautious! Take care!

I don't think you are mean. We all have the right to protect ourselves. Even if the stranger looks less than threatening or vice versa. I think I'm going to be a bit more careful from here on forth cause my bathrooms are located far inside my house not just near the entry door. So better safe than sorry. thanks for the detailed reply. I learned a lot.

I wouldn't let anyone to use my bathroom. First, the are bathrooms on every gas station, secondary, it is not safe for me to let strangers into my house. Few years ago two nice ladies where murder by Comcast service guy. You never know who you let into your place.

I never realized the safety factor. I've lived in suburbs all my life and for the most part they are safe. I've never heard of anyone I know getting in trouble like that. But that's a good eye opener to not let anyone and everyone in. Then again what do you do if you need internet from Comcast! Dilemas everywhere.

Nah, I don't mind. And it's almost always expected that they'd leave the bathroom messy but then I'd be prepared to clean it up right away. Sometimes we don't really have a choice.

Yah that's what I thought when you have to go you have to go. But I just don't like it. I'm sure they can tell from my face that I wasn't too happy with the request. But what can you do!
