Is anyone aware that Sam's Club has layed off over 11,000 parttime workers. At a mandatory meeting on Sunday morning all of the demo department associates were layed off and the demo at Sam's Club is being turned over to an outside source. WE are told that those who demo for Sam's Club can apply to this outside source and some will be hired but has it happened? Also, are you aware that as a parttime worker you do NOT qualify for unemployment benefits? This has left a lot of us workers out of much needed income. But has there been anything on the news about it? You can find out more information about this by going to the Sam's Club site and looking for the news information.

It was on our local news. I heard about this on Saturday that there was a big meeting and on Sunday they reported what the meeting had been about. Don't know if this is becuase someone locally told our news station or what. I did realize that these people would be unable to collect unemployment as the company is not required to pay unemployment taxes on them. I know that it is tough on these folk but the added expense that the company had to work them may have made it not profitable for them either. Everyone is having to tighten down on the spending and reduce expenses where possible to keep their heads above water. This goes for individuals as well as companies.
