A Note to Tea Parties, Conservatives, and Liberty Lovers: Beware of Republicans

... in Sheep's Clothing (Sorry the title got cut short) 2010 is shaping up to be a good election year for Republicans, but will it be a good year for the liberty and the Constitution? The tea party protests have not only directed disgust at the Democrats, but also the Republicans. Under Bush, republicans grew government and brought us record deficits. They shredded up the Constitution like it was yesterday's newspaper and expanded socialist programs and fascist welfare to corporations. All these things that we, as proponents of limited, constitutional government and free markets are supposed to despise. It should have been no surprise when America elected "hope and change" in November 2008, instead of what appeared to be a 3rd term of Bush. Now that the Democrats control Washington, Republicans has started to 'come around' to these abandoned principles again. They frequently say the right things and vote the right way. Awesome, right? Unfortunately, this sudden change of heart can't be taken too seriously. Naturally, in their pursuit of office, politicians will say what we want to hear, to capitalize on the voter anger and ride to office on it. Lip service is not enough; we need a real change in philosophy. Read the rest of my article here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2634269/a_note_to_tea_parties_conservatives.html?cat=9

I'm a right-leaning guy, but I certainly don't buy into what the Republicans are selling. I think it's pretty obvious that they got a whiff of the atmosphere and decided to act like they're for the people again. And I also think the way liberal media handled the tea parties and such was another huge deterrent for the product they were selling. Regular folks like me, worried about the future and feeling as if I didn't have a voice, were insulted over the allegation that we're speaking up now because we're racists or morons or Republican-bought astroturf or fringe extremists or anything other than concerned Americans. The harder they work to demonize people, the more respect they lose. Hell, for most, it's not about that letter beside someone's name. If this current administration could stop the spending that seems to lead to nothing, do more for business, GET OUT OF BIG BUSINESS, fix healthcare a bit instead of trying a ground-up reformation and actually listen to what people want, most of us would be on board with them. We'd wear Obama shirts! Of course, there are plenty that would never, but the lion's share of people in America would be more than willing to go along with a working formula, no matter whose lab it was conjured up in. I do hope people think about their options when voting. Just because a candidate isn't something doesn't mean they are something else.

I would be on Obama's side too, if he was really working for the American people. But we all know he's not.

Im as independent as they come these days. I refuse to claim either party with their BS. As you stated tell us what they think we want to hear. Heck they control the media so of course its what they want us to know basis. If we are told anything differently by a reporter, commentary their jobs on the line. People need to wake up and look around them. Its no surprise we have gotten where we are. Biggest problem we the voters don't make these elected officials accountable for anything. They get away with things that we as people would never tolerate in our own homes. So why in our country? Isn't this home? Many scream, others just turn the other way and continue about their daily lives. Sad I know. That distant planet or deserted island is looking better everyday

Great comment! I agree. Unfortunately, there is no place on earth to start another U.S.A.

I'm listening to Mark Levin now... he's been attacking McCain big time and rightfully so. People need to wake up and review the records of these politicians. The Republican principles as they use to be is the right message but only if that's what the sender is giving. We need to limit the influence of government in our lives and take back our liberty.

Oh you watch....the very same Republicans who are also to blame for the shape this country is in...well jump all on to the tea party wagon. Why? They want the votes. They could careless what the tea party people want or think...just tell them what they want to hear to get their vote...that is their motto. You are right that the Tea Party and other grassroots orgainzations have been just as outspoken against Republicans as Democrats...so I am hoping that they will shun those "turn coat" republicans who now want their vote. I hope it does not work. I hope they turn on them like a pack of wolves. We need major house cleaning in both major parties and more support put into our thrid parties.

I am not a Republican, but I usually vote for Republicans just as the lesser of two evils. But most of the time there isn't really that much difference between the two parties. at least the Republicans aren't so blatantly socialist, and they don't try so hard to take away our freedom (especially when it comes to the Second Amendment). We need a third party that will put up candidates who are really pro-Constitution. The problem is they would never get elected because too many voters obey the media, and the media would never support a true American.

You are right, the laws and rules are stacked against 3rd parties. If we can infiltrate the Republican party and put real liberty loving candidates in office, we might get a little representation in Washington. There's two Senate races I know of where there is a republican running that is the real deal: Perter Schiff(CT) for Senate www.schiffforsenate.com Rand Paul(KY) for Senate http://www.randpaul2010.com/
