see kun2349, All this things are use after family or friends recommendation. like for example I am using avast because my father in law says it is good and help me download it. Then open office was recommended by friends. I think there are still many free software not known to me because no one recommended yet.

I don’t have any specific sites that I use. In the past I have just googgled what I need and I’ve found the right software. I usually search for what I want followed by the words free download and my requirements are usually met. I make sure that I run my antivirus over everything before I download it to make sure it’s not going to compromise my computer. Most of the useful software I have was free from the net somewhere; like you I don’t believe in paying for it if I don’t have to because it can be very expensive and I just can’t afford it.

You could get free safe download of any software you like from cnet. com or filehippo.com. I get all my free software which are very safe from those trusted sites. They are free with no payment require.
