You can find many wonderfully made purses that will be a welcome addition to your wardrobe for under $100!! There is a correlation to quality and price but ONLY up to an extent. You need to consider if you are the type of person who prefers to use the same handbag every day so it will need to be simple enough to go with whatever you are wearing. What I'd advise is to go look at some high end handbags, just to see the quality of the leather and open the purse up and look at the seams and how they are constructed. What is the closure type, if a zipper then how well is it incorporated into the structure of the handbag. What kinds of metal are used if any. How is the carrying strap constructed. You get the idea, you already know that a well made item will generally last much longer and look much better over time. What you also need to decide on is what it is made of, there are many synthetic purses that last very well but aren't leather so have a very different look. You also need to think about the size of it and if you prefer a shoulder strap or handstrap. Styles change alot but if you choose a more classic style it won't look out of place in a few years. Once you decide to add the purse, remember also that how you take care of the handbag makes a huge difference to how good it looks and how long it lasts! If you are one of those that carry a handbag that is stuffed to the seams bursting then you will have the handbag wear out faster. And if you choose leather then you will need to condition the leather and protect it from the weather. One can't get a leather purse soaking wet and then expect it to look wonderful over time. So you have to take that into account as well. I love purses and have several that I have owened for over 15 years and I still use them and get complements on them. They were well made to begin with, classic in style and I take care of them by conditioning the leather at least 2x a year whether or not I have used them recently. Good Luck!! ohhhh i have to admit i am not much help in this area. all of my purses were just given as gifts. i don't really buy my stuff, as I don't know how to choose, like styles etc. what i see as affordable really look cheap and i don't like that. but when people give them to me, they look different. or they just know how to choose. well, i hope you find what you like. :D and for the right price, too.
