Hi! I wrote about the contents of my bag, back in September 2008, you might want to check it out: http://verabear.net/2008/9/thursday-thirteen-13-whats-in-my-bag Right now though, it's still pretty much the same except i have two zip bags (vanity) inside my big bag. One has my comb and lipsticks, and face powder. THe other has other little stuff I used to have lying at the bottom of my bag. I still have about 4 or 5 pens in there, candies, my headset/s. I also have my 2010 planner that I take with me to work, but not when I just go out to the mall. My dslr fits in my big bag now so sometimes I just put it there rather than bring a separate camera bag.

Here is a selective list of items in my bag: 1. Wallet The wallet that I bought ten years ago still works very well. It has travelled with me to many places. I tried to replace it once, but in the end found it was better than the new one. So the wallet is same, but the contents are not the same. Now there is British currency, bank debit card and credit card. There are also membership cards of the National Trust and English Heritage, a library membership card, a National Insurance card and a Nectar card. 2.Coin pocket Because in the UK coins are used regularly, a small coin pocket has been added to my bag. At first I didn't like coins so I always left them at home. Later I found if I had no coins with me I had problems when parking my car. Parking meters always need feeding with coins. 3.Sunglasses Because there are not many sunny days in the UK I use sunglasses mostly for style, and not for practical purposes as I did in Beijing. 4.Umbrella When I was in Beijing, in summer and autumn, I always put an umbrella in my bag. It was used mainly to protect me from the strong sunshine. Here I have my umbrella all season, but it's to protect me from the frequent rainfall. This country really has a lot more rain than I thought. But it's not too bad. It's the rain that makes the UK so green and beautiful. 5.Camera I like taking photos especially in the UK. I keep seeing many beautiful views so I always take my camera with me wherever I go. 6.Dictionary My friend in the UK gave me his old Oxford popular English dictionary. It has over 50 000 definitions and is very light weight. I always make sure it's in my bag. If I'm stuck in a queue, riding on a bus or eating sandwiches in a park I can take it out and have a quick read. I need to build up my English vocabulary. 7. A bottle of water Because I don't drink coffee or tea I don't feel very comfortable when I'm in café or tea room. If I go out I always take a bottle of water with me. It's convenient and economical, not to mention healthy. 8. Make-up bag My make-up bag is a lot smaller than the one I had in Beijing. In the UK my dress style is more casual, so I don't need much make-up. Just a lipstick, a bag of facial tissue, some hand cream plus a mirror. Now I use daily disposable contact lenses. When I go out I put into my make-up bag one pair as a spare. I'm so glad I don't need SPF15 cream often now! 9. Mobile phone My mobile phone is 10 years old! When I used it in Beijing my friend always laughed at me and tried to persuade me to buy a new one. Because it was a gift from my parents I want to use it until it doesn't work. Here I don't have many social connections yet so my mobile phone is not used much, but out of habit I put it in my bag just in case. 10. Map When I was in Beijing I used well-known high buildings as navigational landmarks. In the UK it doesn't work, especially outside London. After getting lost twice I have learnt to always put a local map in my bag before I go out.

I carry a fanny pack instead of your normal purse. I keep my money in one compartment and all of my cards in another. I carry paper and some of my favorite ink pens are in another section. I also carry around a padlock for my locker at the fitness center. It's small but it carries everything that I need.
