I was doing some research yesterday and came across this update on just how much Obama has paid his lawyers to cover up his background. I thought it was pretty shocking and he must really have something to hide.
Federal Election Commission records for "Obama for America" show that the lobby organization has paid international law firm Perkins Coie exactly $1,666,397.01 since the 2008 election.

The most recent sum, $314,018.06, was listed in Obama for America's October Quarterly report filed with the FEC.
The following link gives an exact detailed accounting from the Federal Election Commission for these expenditures.

I think, like the guy or could do without him, that's an awfully large amount of money for anyone to be paying a law firm.
I can't really think of nothing else to say on the matter. That's a lot of money!

If defending yourself against multiple lawsuits equals guilt then it would have to follow that Sarah Palin is guilty of everything she was accused of. Oh wait, didn't she resign as governor because of her high legal expenses??? Sounds pretty guilty to me.
Seriously, one has to respond to a lawsuit...no matter how far fetched it is...so of course Obama is going to have high legal expenses with the likes of that lunatic Orly Taitz, et al. filing suit after suit.

Good point. Just because you have to pay for a lawyer does not make you guilty. The laywer charges you the same if you are really guilty or innocent. Seems being a political figure opens you up to all kinds of legal trouble.
The Clintons had to start a legal defense fund when he was president to help pay for their legal fees when they got too high for them to afford.
Palin just about got bankrupted by her legal fees.
George "W" Bush is having to deal with it too. It seems the some of the prisoners at GITMO are going after him personally for their imprisonment and want $$$ for damages. Or at least they are trying to and W has to pay for lawyer to defend himself.
I did a search engine and it seems a lot of politicans have a "legal defense funds" and both major parties have a "legal defense fund" for people to donate to so they can pay for their lawyers.
Kinda makes you wonder. Why do they all seem to need sooo much money for their defenses and why do they all seem to end up in court? It is being used as a political weapon? Are they shady? I think a little of both.

I agree...could be a little of both. There's money to be made when it comes to lawsuits...not to mention the fame gained. Had anyone even heard of Taitz before she came upon this "cause"? Bottom line though, defending yourself against an accuser doesn't automatically make you guilty of something.

OK then why does he not just show his birth certificate and then he will not have to defend himself and could save a ton of money. Sounds pretty simple to me.

Yes, he is paying a lot of money to keep his "secrets" and we all know he does have secrets..
However, all of our recent presidents have had things to cover up and hide. I would like to know how the amount Obama is paying compares to what Bush and Clinton were paying to their lawyers.
Is he paying more or less? I don't remember any other President's "legal fees" being "studied" in this manner.

What I want to know is who is paying the bill? is this from Obama's own wallet or is it being paid for by US?

Your headline should be, "Wow! Bit Bucks to Defend Yourself From Frivolous Libel." The economy's in bad shape, many people need health care, we have enemies who want to destroy us, and we still have phony people cooking up phony schemes to show that President Obama supposedly did this and that. We still have people who can't seem to understand that President Obama was indeed born in America. Every day I see something new someone has cooked up as a way to put a cog in President Obama's efforts to put America back on its feet. While I'm figthing a big corporation who is in cahoots with the state government that's taking parts of the state law and using it as an excuse why I can't get unemployment and have to pay back what I got -- in other words, government that helps the rich and powerful stomp on the little guy -- we have people who continue to help the greedy in their efforts to fight a true President of the people.

I absolutely do NOT think he is in anyway shape or form a true (ha ha ha) president. That is your pathetic opinion to which of course you are entitled.

whiteheather, that is not a very nice way to treat a new member to this site who is simply stating his opinion. What is truly pathetic is the way that Orly Taitz is milking people for their hard earned money on her website in order to fight this waste of time and how she is making a name for herself on the backs of our military personnel.
Welcome to mylot, RobtheRock. Not everyone here is as rude.

Thank you spalladino. Having been a garderner, I know that weeds still find their way into our beautiful gardens. There are people who are just plain destructive. They don't care about those around them. They are intent on feeding themselves and and trying to force others to taste their filthy brew containing hatred, misinformation, ignorance, and misconceptions about the world. I'm glad that communism is gone, but the greedy, selfish, and proud must understand that their days are numbered.

Well spending that kind of money on it definately makes it look like he has something to hide. And not a small something either.
He definately is the most secretive president we have had about his past.
