So far this year I've seen Avatar, Unglorious B--s, Blind Side and the Tooth Fairy. Of of the above movies were really quite good. I'm thinking of seeing Sherlock Holmes next. Anyone see it? If so what did you think. With movies costing so much these days, I have to be discriminate on my choices.

I have seen the movie "Sherlock Holmes". It's a good movie. I wasn't that satisfied with the story, I mean, they could have picked out a better one, but the actors were great. Robert Downey, Jr. portrayed his role as a 'quirky' Sherlock Holmes, but it suit him well. He wouldn't be awarded as Best Actor for nothing, right?

actually, i haven't seen the other movies in your list. only sherlock holmes. and i love it! i am a fan of mystery fiction and have read all of the sherlock holmes novels. and the one in the movie is of course an original. it was sooo much fun! holmes and watson seem to be younger than depicted in the novels, but quite the same, it is very amusing! you just have to see it!

Thanks for the comment. Do you think the movie was appropriate for an 8 year old. I heard this version of the mystery had Sherlock engaging in a bit of on screen love making. How about the violence? Although I doubt the violence is a problem compared to all the monsters the 8 year olds blow up on the internet.

Favourite movie of 2009 for me. I absolutely adored it. Yes, it has a "this ain't your grand-daddy's Holmes" sort of attitude, but I would reccomend it to anyone. Perfect mix of action and suspense, and Downey Jr. just nails the role, adapting Holmes with his own unique and mesmerizing touch Can't wait for the sequel, Warner Bros. have confirmed it.

I love this response. When you say you can't wait for the sequel, that means it really is a good movie. Will catch it Sunday.

I went and saw it towards when it first came out and I loved it . Best movie of 09 in my opinion . Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law did a amazing job as Sherlock and Watson and I thought the story was really good . I also think that Guy Ritchie did a really good job directing it and I thought the soundtrack was perfect and went right with what was happening in the movie !

I love suspense. I'm a big Sherlock and Agatha Christie fan. I hope it will allow me to try to figure it out before it is explained. Although one can never outsmart Mr. Holmes.

I have seen all of the movies in your list except The Tooth Fairy. I mean, The Rock as a Tooth Fairy? Really? Anyway, I do suggest you watch Sherlock Holmes. It's funny and brilliant even if your aren't a Holmes fan, you'll definitely enjoy the movie.
