It is injurious to health if we reuse bottles of mineral water or soft drinks. We are supposed to crush them and dispose after use. But, I use bottles of soft drinks like mirinda to store oil at home. I use a used shampoo bottle to store my ear medicine. What about you?

Please stop reusing mineral water bottles. They are very dangerous to your health. Soft drinks bottles are not that dangerous comapred to mineral water bottles, but make sure that you don't use it for a long time. If you want to keep water in refrigerator, buy bottles in market, which are meant to keep water. Even, we can't trust those bottles unless they are made of good quality plastic.

My previous maid used to collect those bottles to give to the recycle people. They will give her garlic or chillies instead. It is the business of some people to go to each house in the city to collect old newspaper, used paper, and plastic bottles. Now, I have to throw away along with the garbage. It is sad that sometimes I see people searching for plastic bottles in the big garbage bin.

Hi dalia. No, I don't. But then again I rarely drink bottled sodas and I drink mineral water even less. Oh who am I kidding? I don't drink mineral water at all! LOL I do however drink regular bottled water, but I don't usually refill the bottles with anything. My husband on the other hand tends to reuse them once, mostly for milk, before tossing them out. But he reuses them almost immediately. And if it happens to smell funny, he won't use it at all. Happy mylotting!

daliaj!Earlier,I used them to carry water to office or when traveling long distances. But once after I heard that it is dangerous,I stopped that habit at all.You know one thing, they even say not to buy mineral water bottles if they are displayed so that there is direct sunlight on them.About the soft drinks bottles,i think they are not much harmful like those mineral water bottles. But why take some risks? If they are meant to be disposable, then dispose it.

It is nice to hear that you stopped reusing mineral water bottles. Good. I also think that soft drink bottles are not that harmful as mineral water bottles because they are a little more better in quality. I didn't know about the mineral water bottles disposed in sunlilght. Anway, that is a new information to me. I will take care.

Hi daliaj I do not reuse mineral water and soft drinks bottles. Once I open the bottle and use the content, I will discard the empty bottles either by crushing it or by throwing it in the dust bin.

Hi dalia, You are right the mineral water bottles are not qualitative one to store water for long time. So they are asking us to crush the bottle after use. If we don’t crush it then people may pick the same bottle and refill with water and distribute among us. I never re-use the mineral water bottles but I re-use the bottle of soft drinks, which are better quality for storing water or carrying water when going out. I may throw bottles of shampoo and other kind of bottles in dust bin.

recycling? well, in the house, we gather empty bottles, cans, plastic containers, etc. and sell them to the junk shop near by. some of them are being re-used too, in storing some things like use motorcycle oil. in the office, i have 2 plastic bottles of mineral water. i use them to store used staple wires removed from papers. i still don't have the idea what to do next with these used staple wires.

I didn't actually know, that it's harmful to reuse these bottles. I do sometimes use them to store water in them, in case I'm going somewhere. I take most of the bottles to the special package bins or to the tare machines, where I can get money for the bottles. I think it's good that these bottles get recycled, we can save a lot of resources like that.
