Strawberry Shortcake

I don't recall ever eating strawberry shortcake. I think I've seen the cartoon character before, but have never consumed the dessert. I think it would be pretty easy to make. Looks simple enough from what I've seen.

I have eaten strawberry shortcake before and yum yum is it ever good! I have never made it though, but I have always wanted to try making it to see how it turns out! I have really gotten into a baking/cooking mood since having my girls! I guess before kids you don't really care or worry about what you eat or make, but after you have kids that and a LOT of other things change! While the strawberries are at their cheapest and freshest (in season over the summer) I think I will try making it as a nice dessert maybe for when my parents come out to visit this August!

I love shortcake! I make it mostly in the summer when the strawberries are abundant (and cheaper.) The recipie I use was my great-Aunt's, and it is very delicious. I don't usually only make it for special occasions, but rather when the mood strikes me and it just sounds good. I'll make it maybe once a week during the berry growing season. I don't think it's difficult to make at all, and it tastes sooo good when the shortcakes right out of the oven and you put that strawberry mixture and whipped cream on top!
