I was in the exact situation as you. I started a new semester about 9 weeks ago and i recieved a new lunch period (which by the way i think is the dumbest thing ever), the first few days i sat at an empty table by myself, 9 weeks later i sit with a group of people but i have not spoken one word to any of them (sort of anti social that way) so yeah i greatly recommend talking to your counselor about this. You will really start to dread coming to lunch everyday once your in the same shoes im in. Do this ASAP, really take my word for it, unless, you are one of those social butterfly types then you have nothing to be afraid of. What you could do if you dont feel like talking to the counselor is simply make new friends, it'll help you out more in the long run. Now if you'll excuse me im going to go back to siiting by myself at lunch Hope this helped somewhat.
