Sibling rivalry is common among brothers and sisters, a jealousy and competition. A top concern of almost all parents with two or more kids, can be frustrating and stressful, however many people finds it helpful like the wiliams' sisters serena and venus. They compete with each other raising the bonding to higher level, though sometimes it could wreck relationship among sisters or brothers. What can you say?

It depends on the type of rivalry. Some turn out to be healthy competition by pushing each other to do their best to succeed while others are demeaning and lowers one's self esteem. I've had sibling rivalry but it turned out okay. My sisters and I are now very close and we now help each other and give advice to each other. In the end, it turned out okay.

Why should anyone be jealous of strangers. It is siblings that one is jealous of. The set up dictates it all - some being clever and others not doing so well in studies or any other area. And when elders openly praise those doing well then jealousy the green eyed monster shows its ugly head and stays there forever.

I don't know. If the rivalry stems up from the very obvious favoring of one child over another then that could lead to a not so healthy sibling relationship. It's pretty normal for siblings to have this especially on their growing years. But if it has gone beyond puberty and not addressed during childhood, a family can fall apart.
