I was amazed...

Murphy, the grand dame of the crew, has had a bad problem with a huge mass on her tongue. I had it surgically removed once but it came back. The last time I had her at the vet because of a UTI, the vet wanted to keep her and remove it again. I didn't want to put her through that suffering again, so I said no. He then started to do the strong arm thing of "It could spread down her throat and suffocate her". Again I told him NO, because she hadn't had problems with it before.
I checked her tongue a few days ago and was amazed to find the mass was gone!!!
There wasn't even a sign of it having been there! I realized that I had changed their cat food to one that was Urinary Tract sensitive and would promote good urinary tract health, so it had to be the food change.
I know that most of us are scraping by and buying more expensive cat food is stretching the budget a LOT, but I have to admit that changing to a more expensive brand was worth every penny. Murph's breath has even improved! I switched from Friskies to Iams. It's a bit more expensive but it also seems to keep them satisfied longer than the Friskies. So needless to say the inside guys get the Iams and the outside furry buddies get Friskies but they also get meat scraps, milk and a lot of other food that the inside guys don't like and won't eat.
What do you feed your cats? Have you stopped to see what is in the food?

I agree with you
I swear that the Cheaper brands do not have the Vitamins and nutrition that our Babies need, Gissi also gets the more expensive food but he is so fussy anyway lol as he will only eat the one brand and it has to be in Jelly as he does not like Gravy
I am glad that it sorted itself out and hopefully it will never appear again

Aren't you glad that our cats haven't discovered beluga caviar?
Give the furry darlings an inch and they get fussy!
Thanks for reminding me that I need to get animal food tomorrow. Their food is ALWAYS purchased first. With the kind of day I had yesterday they are the only thing that has kept me from running away from home!
I watched on the Discovery Channel how animal food is made, and I decided that I could afford to eat cheaper and have my furry buddies eat better. It's been cheaper in the long run...in one year I had 4 cat visits to the vet and ended up with a grand total of $600 for treatment, all the same thing. Needless to say it is an enormous savings to spend 8 to 10 dollars more for cat food than to pay 50 a month for vet bills.
Unfortunately I got cats that need the special foods. I wish at times I could get by with the cheaper foods, but then too I would rather spend the money and have healthy happy cats running through the house.

I feed the ravening hordes Purina One, I try to get the hairball formula.
I don't know if its as good as the Science Diet I used to feed them, but it is a good bit less expensive, and was one of the few that didn't get on the pulled list after the problems a couple of years ago.

For years I used to be just Cat Chow -then I did the Cat Chow or Meow Mix only..
Now I try to stick with those. but if there is a deal with Friskies or Kit n Kaboodle- I will do either of those too.. They actually like the Friskies ..But I have been so broke I kind of just go with whatever deal Walmart is offering and/or If I have a coupon or not.
With 14 cats- their is NO way I would be able to feed them Premium cat food.
And I have had cats live long lives without spending extra on the "GOOD" stuff. :-)

We feed the cats either friskies, nine lives, or meow mix. They don't seem to have any problems. We try and stick with indoor formulas, because they are both indoor cats. It makes it easier on both of of them and they seem happy. As long as they both appear happy and healthy, I'm not changing a thing with their food.
