That's cool, I love hearing things like that. I would never have the time or patience to do enough research to verify it, though.

Same here. I like trivia, but verifying some of it is really a pain. Specially when it would take one to go through the entire English dictionary!

That is interesting. Words like that interest me.... how they came into being. Something to go research for fun. Thanks, aeneas1980. Welcome to myLot.

                    Hi there.
This may be too late since you've created this discussion 3 years ago. But I do love hearing stuff like this. It makes one ponder and wonder if this is a fact or a fallacy and challenges your mind to think.
Anyway, thanks for the info. But I'm quite sad because you seem to have hibernated or totally left mylot community since you've been inactive for quite so long.
Hope to see you again here.

Oh, really? Well that's new. Fascinating, too, of course. Where'd you get that? :D

Actually, there are 5 English words ending in 'mt' though there are all derivitives of 'dreamt.'
daydreamt · dreamt · outdreamt · redreamt · undreamt
There are only 2 words ending 'gry'
all the best urban

Talking about words in language is quiet fun. I found some other unique fact about words though, like only a few words in English ended with -dous. And also there're some interesting fact about words in my own language..
