It's election time again, and the political ads are just everywhere ( specially manny villar's ad. Lol.) Anyway, I just noticed something with the ads, at the end, it would say that the ad was paid for by the friends of so and so.. What is exactly the point of putting that notice at the end? Is it a requirement of the law or something. Cause I'm sure that all those ads are not paid for by their friends but by themselves ( specially Manny villar again. Hehehe )... So, enlighten me guys, why the need for the disclaimer?

The main purpose of this disclaimer is to circumvent the provisions of The Omnibus Election Code limits the expenses a candidate may spend on his campaign. For different offices there are different amounts allowed by law to be spent. Lower for local offices and higher for national offices. This way, they can say that these should not be included in campaign expenses. It is also used to hide the fact that they have more money than they are declaring in the Statement of Assets and Liabilities they submitted at the end of each year during the term of their office. And it could also be used as a defense against early campaigns which is also a violation of the election laws. I hope this helped you somehow.

So ignorant of me, but some how i knew it was part of the law and some how i knew it's just another lame excuse for them to pretend that friends are paying for their campaign as a donation when we all know that manny villar is very very rich and all.

*which (should be between Code and limits) LOL @letranknight Villar is insanely rich. It is unbelievable how he was able to amass such wealth. @rsa In my line of work, I have to deal with government offices and you hear bits and pieces once in a while. Its good to know your laws.

hi ingkingders, that is common in the elections, election commission is imposing some rule and regulations for the contestants,so they have to take some precautions like that, printing such words on the posters, but no body will follow the rules and they are acting that they are following rules, have a nice day
