What are you planning to do with your tax return?

My husband & I have been talking about how to spend our tax return this year. We have so much we want to do with it. We always use it to pay our property taxes, and this year we're in need of some new furniture and a few home improvements. I really want a vacation and to build the kids a tree house/swingset. Whats your plans? Home improvement, buy new technology, furniture, vacation, down payment on a new car?

Hello, For my hubby and I well there is a lot that we want to do with it that we might now even have any left to use on ourselves. We got about 9,500 back and we have a lot planned with it. We want to put 1500 of it on our truck to get the payment lower. Then we want to pay off all the bills. After we do that we are going to pay 3 months worth of rent. Then we are going to open to savings accounts for both of our boys and put 50 in each one to start it off. After that if there is any left we will be buying each other a Christmas gift since we don't have the money to do it when it is Christmas. After that the rest of the money is for us to split after we let the boys have a little bit to get a toy or 2. Oh not to mention 80 dollars to both my sister and brother for their Christmas gift. I am so glad that people are willing to wait to get Christmas gifts. I figured that if I am doing this right then we should have about 1000 each to play with, of course my part always lasts me about a month or 2. My hubby usually has his gone withing 2 weeks. But we will see how everything goes after we do our bills and such. Next years tax return will be going for the boy's savings account and a payment for a house. But I should start with one year at a time and see what happens. Happy Mylotting

Hi seepy, Wow! I wish we could get that much back! In these tough times it really helps out, You sound like you have some good plans for yours. We will also try to pay on our house to save on our interest this year.We hardly ever get the chance to put toward the principle. I will also be putting some into our childrens savings accounts.

We have gotten about this much back for the last 2 years. Well that will be good to pay some on your house. It seems that everyone has good plans for their tax returns. I have always wanted to open a savings accounts for both of our boys so I figure this year is the best time to do it. I am hoping that if we put anywhere from 50 to 200 in each account every year when the tax return comes that the boys will have enough for college or even for a down payment on a house for each of themselves. Happy Mylotting

Well, a tiny bit of it is being put to the side for an upcoming vacation. Then we have been planning on using another part of it to buy a new freeze to replace the one that went to freezer heave early last year. ( I really miss have a stand alone freezer, so this will make life easier for sure.) Then the rest of the money will probably go towards paying off a credit card and a couple of other bills that have been looming. the money always disappears much too quickly.

The last one most likely. This month my husband and I can get our own car as he's been at his job for six months. I haven't been at my job for as long but that shouldn't matter. In any case, we have money saved from our wedding, we've got money we just saved, we've also got money from our tax returns, and money we're owed that we'll be getting back at tax time. With this money, if we don't buy a car, we'll most likely save and keep saving until we need it for a house or something. We're not getting too much back on our own, but with what's owed to us from family, we'll be able to make a hefty down payment on a car.
