Do you still have "HOPE"-coutures in your wardrobe? :-)

A "hope"-couture is defined by the Fashion Police as your most precious/ favorite dress which you still expect to wear even if it no longer fits you ;) I have many in my closet! I find them still okay to use, but can't wear it since I gained a few weight last December :) But I still HOPE to wear them.. in fact they are my inspirations to lose weight. Haha. So do you still have hope-coutures in your wardrobe that you still find "haute"? ;)

I do still have them in my wardrobe.. lol =D BUt it's not that i have put on some weight thus not being able to fit in them.. Rather, i'vew increased in my overall mass, and thsu there's no way i can go back to before.. lol =D And those clothes in m wardrobe, i'm still keeping them because they are just so comfortable to wear, and i really like the designs.. lol =D Much as i'm tempted to wear them, but i cant, as it's become way too tight fitted.. lol =D

Oh yeah. I had that "hope" thing going on for a few years! Weight working against me. But when I moved from a 4 bedroom house (after the kids all left) to a 2 bedroom apt...I looked at those things and thought, "if after 10 years and I still can' wear them... why am I keeping them? Why am I spending money on the movers to have them move these clothes that I won't wear? I have given it 10 years, it isn't going to happen ..." so I gave them all to my church for the rummage sale. Even onest hat had tags on them!!! I gave myself a good kick on those!!! When I moved, I literally had NOTHING nice or dressy. And since most of my casual clothes were so old, they were near tears... I dumped all those to and my closet in my apt was literally nearly bare!!!!! But Kohls came around about that time and their sales and my frugality with money.. I gradually collected some nice things... granted being top heavy is a HUGE problem in finding things that fit and I am still not to the "really nice" stage I waa prior to this, but maybe some day.. but in the mean time... I'll get the nicest I can that will fit me and my budget and just learned to deal with it. If it don't fit either of those... I don't buy. "hope" no longer exists in my closet!!

hi cecillecarmela, I don't have those kind of clothes in my closet. The one time I did gain an amount of weight, I filled a box with my favorite jeans and tops in hopes of once again wearing them someday. When the weight finally came off, I found they were no longer in style at all. Maybe I kept a couple of tops but all the jeans got donated away. Then again, it took me a lot more than a year to lose the weight.

I do have a lot of that. LOL I have pants and dresses and blouses.. most of them still fits, but looks awful with my big arms and big tummy.. Just like you I keep them for my inspiration.. And now that I've been doing my dieting and exercising religiously, I'm sure I'm going to be able to wear them sooner than I think.

Same here. I have so many "hope" couture. I (finally) put up some of those clothes on a garage sale last year, but I still find myself hanging on to some until now. Like you, I use it as a motivation to get back to my previous weight. Most of them are my favorite colors, favorite presents and favorite style.

I have so many dress at home that doesn’t fit me at all. I did not gain few weight but a kilos of weight. I used to be thin when I graduated in college, but then when I already have work, it helps me to gain, because I no longer have exercise and I am lazy, I just sit down at work and I am always in front of a computer. I have so many good dress before and it some of it were still new, that is the first time I heard about Hope coutures, that is what I will call on my dress from now on. My mother ask me if I want to give my dress that I haven’t use to my nieces, which I don’t want because I know in time I will lose weight and i can use it again. Like you it is my inspiration too.

yeah. there are several dresses i still keep in my closet, long gowns and day dresses i used to wear a while back. back when i used to wear them in formal occasions and gatherings. i filled out some and i don't attend those types of gatherings these days. but i still keep them. there's this one daring outfit i bought before for an international gathering that i've only worn once because it was way out of character for me. everyone knew of my conservative nature yet the dress was so bold i almost didn't wear it. it has no back you see and the only thing holding the dress is the string tied to the back of the neck. the front is tricky too. it can dip so low. needless to say i feel bare somehow. and it came as much as a surprise for me when an unlikely person pushed me to wear that dress, the most conservative person in the family... my mom. she recognized a great dress when she saw it and being a seamstress, she was able to make a few adjustments so i would be more comfortable to wear it. and i did, i had a great time and my colleagues saw the spirited side of my personality. the only downside was i had an indecent proposal from a foreign guest that night who had a bit too much to drink perhaps. good thing his colleagues were within earshot and got the situation under control. but he was all apologies in the morning. must be the dress that did it. -lol- i've never worn it again.

I have a lot of this stuff in my closet. Mostly I think it is jeans that I have they are so expensive so it seems silly to throw them out when I have evry intention of being that skinny again one day. The problem is it has been years and I am no closer to fitting into those jeans then I was 5 years ago.

yep know what you mean. i had a few pairs of jeans, i wanted to fit back in to. haven't worn them out yet thou. i had them before i had my son, and then i didn't lose much after wards and no longer fitted them. so they've sat there the whole time, waiting for me to fit them again. i tried them on back start of january and was jumping for joy they fit and not tight either, lose enough for me to be able ride the horse in them as well. so never give up hope on fitting them again. i mainly did walking to lose weight and ate less. best of luck.

hi cecillecarmela oh yes indeed I do, don't know how haute they are but they are favorites that my added weight gain made them hang lonely in my closet. they await the day I really lose some pounds first. I do hope to wear them but its going to take some time to lose that weight, and my doctor says don't lose over six pounds in a month. that really is very slow but he says that weight lost really fast will be put right back on again.

I have tons of this kind of stuff. I have gained so much weight throughout the years and I'm always hoping to shed some pounds and finally getting to wear some of my clothes again. I've come to the point even when I refuse to buy new clothes if i don't lose. Reality is, I;m not losing weight. :( And I do have to let go of some of my "haute" couture. hehe :)

I do have hope-coutures in my wardrobe. I have 3 closet full of clothes and they are filled with clothes of all sizes. My weight fluctuates a lot so I always have the size that I need for where I am at in the bulk department. I enjoy the smaller clothes more than the larger ones but I am grateful for the choices I have.
