Is sounds a lot like Lulu.com. I am a writer and am working on a book right now. Has anyone out there done business with CreateSpace? Do you get to keep all your rights to your work? If everything is free, how do they make their money? Would appreciate some feedback on this company. Thanks!! :D

I just signed up with createspace and yes you keep your rights. I had my book copyrighted with myows website for free. Like poster said above, amazon takes their money right up front. They have an easy calculator which shows you the minimun amount to charge for your book which includes printing and then you can decide how much you want to add on to their price. They also give you a free isbn number which I really like. Depending on how you want to distribute your book is the only thing that costs money. They will put it on their site for free. If you want it listed in libraries and retail stores, it will cost you $25. Bottom line for new authors, its a good way to get your book on a world recognized website. Good luck with your book, did you finish it yet?

Yes, I started from an initial $200 from the family income to buy my first set of books from Createspace. I sold them myself one at a time to friends and at booksignings. I made a profit and paid back the $200, bought more books and continued to sell. It's been disheartening that of all the books I have sold since last August, NONE had been sold from the local book stores or by the 5 major distributors of Createspace. All were sold PERSONALLY by me one way or another. If you intend on doing the same as it appears you are, making a website to sell your books is very important. I made a blog for selling my book with a credit card service from Paypal that is very affordable: Free, until someone buys my book and uses that service and then they charge me less than a dollar per transaction. It has been a good service so far. And now I find they offer a free card reader that hooks up to your smartphone so you can accept credit card purchases wherever you go. Being able to accept credit cards is important if you intend to sell your book on a website or at booksignings. See my profile. =)

Already on the same sheet! I read about that credit card service on paypal, just in case my book makes it big. Leave no stone unturned right? Wow, is there anything a smart phone cannot do? Technology is wonderful sometimes. All your hard work will pay off eventually. Hang in there.
