How stupid are we?

We ALL know that our current political system doesn't work. We ALL know that both parties could careless about us, and only care about their own job, and income. Yet, we talk about each other on here like we are enemies when really all of us have some topics we can agree on. I find it funny how we act on here much like our representatives act in public. Obama said something on Friday that many of us know, but no one wants to admit: Our politicians act one way in front of the camera, but are good friends when the cameras are off. When will we all realize that we should stop fighting each other, and start to fight our system, and those that will do anything to keep it alive?

Can't agree more. As I see it the fighting in front of the cameras has caused WE the People to fight with each other. I can only speak for my family, even though I am sure that my family is not alone in this problem, but my mom and myself can gat along for long with my sisters. My is Republican, I am more indepentent, while my sisters are flaming liberals. Everything is fine until politics enters the discussion. It is funny to me that both conseritive and liberals don't see the BS that both side put out there. Take the Senate Health Care bill, liberal tell us how they are against big business, then the Senate plan will force you to but from who? The big insurance co., I wander how many people know that the day after the Senate Health Care bill pass, three of the biggest health insurance companies stocks hit 52 week highs. However the Republicans are not any better, they promise and give us tax cuts, but don't cut spending at the same time. The only solution is to clean out congress, I don't care if you replace an old Democrat with a new one, or an old Republican with a new one, but clean Congress out. The beat thing would be to elect an even number of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, that would give everyone a voice in the Congress of We the People.

the current system works just fine.....as long as your an establishment democrat or republican elected official that is.
Obama may have siad some pretty true words, but he is just as guilty of the sin as all the others, he is no different. He is an establishment democrat....a politician.
I have been trying to fight this system, for quite some time now. Yet I run in to road blocakafter road block, not just from elected establishments, but from people, dedicated members of the two parties. The tea party movement...not the hijacked comercialized groups now emerbing...Im talking about the grass roots folks that make up most of the movement....it has been fighting the system. Yet it, like me, runs in to road blocks. Road blocks in the form of demonization, insults, threats and marginalizing by journalists, networks, politicians and yes, regular folks, many right here in this very forum.
This fight will not be successfull until enough people begin to realize they have put their faith in people who are perpetuating the problem. We have to start thinking outside the box in terms of selecting peoople to vote for...look past the establishment, start looking for a persons character rather than how educated they seem or how well they speak or how "hip" they are. Start looking at candidates and judging them by constitutional standards and humility.
And most important....(yes...my mantra again) Start taking charge of our states and electing state governments that stand up for our states, that understand federal republican system of government our founders established and will isist on such a system being preserved, that are not afraid of using the nulification process, that aren't afraid to enforce, by use of law enforcemnt agencies if nessesary, state laws that refuse unconstitutional mandates.
Most of all....remember who we are....I do not feel the slightest bit arrogent in saying I am an american, a citizen of the greatest, most free and most exceptional nation on earth.
It is not a matter of right vs left, republicans vs democrats, liberal vs conservatives...it has become a matter of US...americans...vs a slowly growing cancer of coruption that we call a federal government.

I agree with what you are saying X, but you know as well as I do that this is much more difficult to do. The other problem that we have is even if you find people who aren't like them (many feel that Obama was, until he came to Washington) the power and money are to much for a mortal human. This is why the supreme court ruling angered me so much, because we need to get money out of our elections, not put more into them. The only way we will ever have a true democracy is to have people run the country for them betterment of the country, not themselves. The problem is that this country has never been run like that, throughout our history we have been ruled by people who were influenced by money, and power. So many worry what would happen if you did take the money out. What would the country be like then? I can't answer that question, but I sure would like to find out!!

It will be FAR from easy...nothing worth while is ever easy...it will be almost as hard as the battle our founders faught to found this nation. BUt...this is why it is so important to tackle this at the state level. State governments are much easier to reform than the entire nation in one shot. Stae governments have the power to marginalize the federal government as well, this is absolutely key..it is imperetive. We have great power in our states, we just need to dust it off and start using it. The federal government exists and operates only at the pleasure of the states. We have all forgotten this.

Great post! This personal animosity between people who really want pretty much the same things is something I have a hard time understanding. I've always been a political junkie and I have to say I've never seen it get as bad as it is now in my entire life. It's like "beating" the other party or "bringing down" some of its members is more important than doing what's best for the country and its people. Instead of trying to make us more united it's all about division, hatred and most FEAR!

That is the point annie. They don't want us united. they want us picking sides and fighting. That way we excuse and defend the wrong done by "our" side and do everything we can to "tear" down the other side.
When we should be tearing them both down when they do wrong and supporting them all when they do good.
It should be us vs them....as in us the american public united vs our corrupt elected officials.
Which is exactly what they don't want. Then they would have to clean up their act and the free ride will be over.

I agree with you 100%. We should all get together and fight the system that doesn't work at all. We should also fight for the health insurance plan that they get. What makes them entitled and we the people of the land are not? Why can't every human being have the health insurance plan that they have till the day they die? What makes them better then everyone else?

Hello Thegreatdebater,
Im Canadian and I do agree with you 110%. Both our governments are full of it. Iv noticed that not many people will fight about politics here. We seem to all agree that they're all full of it and lie to our faces all the time. Yes they fight when in front of the camera and then go to lunch together. To me, governments are like the Wrestling. Its all a game. Its all a show and we all pay for it.
Both our governments are deep in debt, yet they throw money right and left to just about anybody who will ask. They travel all over the world on the pretext of trying to solve global warming (another lie by the way). Im really fed up of being taken for a ride and made a fool of.
You're right, we all need to stick together and kick all of them out of office. They have spent enough of YOUR and MY money for their own selfish purposes.
We are their bosses and yet we let them dictate what we should or shouldnt do. How dare them??
Sorry, its a hot subject for me. I get angry very fast lol.

I agree, I really don't like see politicians fighting and calling themselves names. It is extremely embarrassing, because these people suppose to be an example in our society and all what they do is fight between each other as they will be so different, there is nothing more close to a republican than a democrat. These people don't even take conscious decisions considering how much it hurts the middle class every time they raise taxes to make a living for the people that don't give anything to the society of this country.

When you look at it the republicans and the democrats are really not that different. By this I mean the ones in politican offices.
They are both corrupt, are bought and paid for by corporate american, lobbyist and special interest groups, greedy, underhanded and very untrustworthy. None of them give a damn about the average citizen.WHy? We don't have millions to give them like corporations and lobbyists....so therefore our thoughts and wishes don't matter.
I don't understand why more people have not realized it. Neither party is the "good" guy...they are both "bad" guys. I really wish people would think before taking up for a party or a politican just because of his or her party. What are you really taking up for? What are you really supporting? It just enables them to behave badly.
As for why they play "us" against "them"...well that is easy to answer...as long as the american public is thinking "us vs them" is "republican vs democrat"....then the public won't stop to look at the big picture...if we did it would quickly turn into an "us vs them" that was us "the american poeple vs all of our politicans". They don't want that. THey want to keep us fighting amoungst our selves so that we don't do anything to change the status quo of corruption in washington.
But the public is waking up. THey are starting to get smart to this game.
I have been done with both parties for a while. It is all a big show. Look around...the republicans were in power...lots of waste and corruption...the democrats are in power....lots of waste and corruption.
It is time to clean house!

Unfortunately it is not limited to only one country it is the same all over the world, and yes we are really really stupid enough....how enough??? is the past generation after generation and the coming generation after generation as well, its a shame on us,we most of those who are well of does not mind it at all but those who are in bad economically are the most who keeps on fighting among ourselves, therefore its our out-most priority to bring these world famous personalities naked true to their nature.
Its a game that is been played in the name of betterment/democracy/republic/constitution/.......so on and on
by these political parties all over the world, and ultimately beneficiaries are none but these politicians and their off-spring again generation after generation, who are feeding upon us,and if we look carefully we can easily see one more beneficiaries along with these politicians are the world renowned business empires/moguls.
We are just the feeding grass to their hugh-hugh stomach which remains empty years on years.
