I know this is something that I can talk to other women about. But I want to know what other women have experienced with birth control pills. I used to take Yaz but after I heard about all of the risks and that so many people had problems with it I stopped taking it. I went to my dr. recently and they talked me in to getting birth control again but i'm really hesitant about event using it. I don't want the risks of the side effects from it especially when i know i can prevent it by not taking it to begin with, I would rather get pregnant, at least thats natural. So what is the best thing to do and be safe. Should I take the bc and risk the side effects that could be caused by it? Or do I throw it away and be safe?

any birth conrtol we use has side effects. some may affect us worse than others, but then u may find one where u get not side effects. i've used the pill and the implant in my arm. the implant caused weight gain over a period of time, but other wise worked qutie well for me. i have heard of women falling preg while on it as well. but it is best to talk to the doctor about it and they can help u choose the right one for u.

i heard that birth control pills will cause side effect like cancer. i read an article from magazine about birth control pills will lead to cancer. so, what is the alternative way to avoid pregnancy? Furthermore, the birth control pills will cause women to grow fat.

Because getting pregnant is what we're built for, any attempts to do so otherwise will always cause side effects. But sometimes we opt to use birth control because we are just not ready to have a baby or a family yet. Unwanted pregnancy brings long term "side effects" so using birth control is a much easier choice. My gyne advices me to use birth control pills because it's the most unobtrusive of the lot. But something else might work for you. You could discuss that with your gyne. Aside from giving her medical advice, she's familiar with hundreds of women's experiences with birth control so her opinion about it is also based on practice.
