Have you ever gone out with someone you met on the Internet?

I did this a couple of times over the past years. Some turned out to be good friends. With others I got shocked. ;-) Have you ever purposely done anything on-line to meet someone? And then if you did, have you gone out with this person? What's your story mylotter?

hi! yup. so far just one person. he's a mylotter friend who was really helpful in cheering me up during the time i was a bit down and recovering from a break up. we were able to communicate and chat and exchange emails. i have gone out with him but not on a date or anything. he's been to my home when he dropped me off a few times, met my family too. we're good friends now who occasionally meet when schedule permits, and we continue to chat whenever we are both online. it's fun to have friends... regardless of the circumstance you have met or where you had interacted the first time. i've never done anything close to online dating or purposely joined a social forum/network to meet guys. i don't even go to blind dates. hehe i'm curious with the "i got shocked" part. why? what happened? what could be so shocking? hehe

Thank you Myles! You're very amiable, aren't you? ;-) I made it ambiguous when I wrote it. There are a 101 reasons that can shock someone. ;-) hehehe I met someone though and we've been friends for like 13-14 years now. Almost predated Internet in the country.

yeah ambiguous enough to stir up curiousity. hehe there may be 101 reasons, but humour me with just one... just enough to satisfy the naturally inquisitive. or if the details are too juicy to handle... then alright, i won't press. -lol- amiable... hehe i've used the word a lot but never on myself. anyways, it's nice to learn about friendships that last.

Yes and that was my present partner.. we've met in an exclusive website.. i pm'ed her to say hi.. i didn't expect a reply as there are many gorgeous girls out there.. but she replied and asked for my mobile number.. since she's my bigtime crush, i didn't hesitate to give it to her.. after a week or two, we've decided to meet up.. we ate at yellow cab and watched a movie.. it was indeed one of the happiest experiences i've had.. :) you know, i didn't expect that i'll find my true love on the internet.. we are celebrating our fifth anniversary next month (4th of march).. yipee!!! we are planning to go to an out of town trip to celebrate it...

Wonderful story! Sounds like you hooked up with someone you're really happy with. Now that's on-line romance. Where are you guys going for your anniversary?

No, I don't have any online friends in my own country. Most of my online friend are from other countries, so it's impossible to meet in person. Mostly we meet via whipsawn and talk via microphone.
