Are there gay cats?

I have two male cats, one is pure white and the other is also a white with black cap on his head, heart-shaped tail and a dot at his back. I call the pure white as Siomai and the other one as Siopao. I just noticed that my two cats, both matured already, sleeps together on a rag near our door and they like to lick the fur of each other. They are both so sweet to each other. I wonder, are there gay cats? Hahaha...

Don't worry, the licking-each-other doesn't really mean they're gays! I think it's a cat's nature to help each other out when it comes to grooming/licking. But I've seen dogs trying to mate with a fellow male dog. And I even posted that here. Some said there are homosexual tendencies among animals. Some said there are pheromones from a female dog that remains in some males dogs after mating with a female and another male dog mistakes the male dog to be female. IT seems like it's a natural occurrence. So don't worry. Don't judge a cat by its licking!

are they fixed? once a male cat is fixed, they kind of forget they were ever males and act like they are still kittens - in the sense they don't care if their friend is male or female - even a spayed female will do this most of the time. I have a pair of brothers, Ping and Pong, who love each other and they love a lot of other cats, Gizmo, Timus, in fact, any cat they can cuddle up to - they aren't fussy. The thing is that most of of their friends are males because most of the females aren't as friendly.

Hi. Maybe you are right. Siomai is older than Siomai... maybe one can say that he was in his teens when Siomai came. From the day he saw Siomai, Siopao immediately developed a liking to the kitten and had adopted it. Thanks.

Hi snowhybiscuis, Homosexuality has been well documented among animals and there doesn't seem to be any exception. Therefore there are gay cats but of course, that doesn't mean your cats are gay. I hope that it won't matter to you if they are because like humans, animals are born that way too. Blessings.

No, I am not worried. It is okay if they are both gays. I just wondered. Thanks.

It sounds to me you have two cats that are real good friends. We have cats that are like that, but most of the time they would much rather leave each other alone. I've had cats that cuddle against each others, and others that cuddle against me. The "cuddeling" could just mean they seak the warmth of the othe. r animal. cats can be unique that way

It is nice if one would find a friend like that. But if what they are doing translates to people, it will not be normal. Lol. I was just wondering. Thanks for your input.

We have female cats that act the same way with each other. In their case though the one is much older, she is 17 while the other cat is only 6, and the younger cat was a kitten when we brought her home so the older one acted like a foster mom. We joke about them being lesbians though because of how they groom each other and sleep curled up next to each other. And yeah, lots of animals have been found to attempt to mate with other animals of the same gender. In some cases it does seem to be actual homosexuality, in other situations animals will hump one another to show their dominance. Females will even hump male animals in cases such as this if they are the alpha! Its a good thing your cats get along together so well!
