Scared to show the world

I am scared to show the world what I have written in the past 2 years. I have never showed anyone what I have been working on. I have many short stories and many many essays. Even though I destroyed some in a rush of craziness I still keep the most valuable one, those I like the most. Do you think I should show them to someone, or upload them on the internet?!
My teacher has seen one of my essays which was for a contest and loved it, however, I am not confident enough..

There is a website that I am on, called fictionpress, you can upload poetry and stories. It's a great site, and you can remain anonymous if you do wish. It's a very fun site to be on, with so many great authors of different levels. If you want to know how good or bad your work is, their's an option for people to review.
That's just one option of course, and though you may not be confident in your work it will be a boost to know you have it on fictionpress. Many people are nice there.

I think there is a risk every where. and even in a race only three people can get the medals but it does not mean that rest of the participants are not good. that is the matter of time who does the best at the instance. and i think if you only think to not participate in the race how can you think to win ever.
