Why Are We Still Occupying Japan?

65 years ago the U.S Marines landed on the beaches of Okinawa and to this day we still have Marines occupying the island of Okinawa. For anyone who does not know Okinawa is apart of Japan's island chains. A question must be asked, why do we still defend Japan? Japan is no longer the ruined nation of 1945, but the second-largest economy on earth. Japan can easily afford it's own military, but instead Japan does not have to, Japan has ours.
Simply put Japan does not want us and they do not need us.

Why are we will in Germany or other countries? I think we need to pull out of Japan. They don't want us there. We don't need to be there.
Think of it this way.....would we let Germany or Japan open a military base in the US and put their soliders on it? Heck no. We would be up in arms. We would not stand for it. So why should other countries have our military and bases in their country?
We would save a ton of money each year on military costs if we closed down a lot of those bases and pulled the troops out. There is no need for us to be there. Let them look after their own defenses instead of us paying to defend them. but honestly most of those countries don't need us there at all. It is a waste of money.

We would not stand for it. The citizens of this country would never stand for having a foreign base or military in our country. So why should we expect them to tolerate us being there. If Japan wants us gone...we should leave. It is their country. They have a right NOT to have us there.
