My sister and I have this love and hate relationship. I really attribute it on us having different experiences as a child. IN particular she was private schooled and I was public schooled. In my school, I was not an average student, I was one of the best (hey, they had a limited student population so I'm not being cocky) :) In her school my sister was just average (all those rich students can afford tutors ).
Because of that we sort of developed a very different outlook in life. I was exposed to the simple pleasures of just being able to go to school while others can't even afford to let their kids got to school. She on the other hand, got into the culture of being judged for what you can afford and what your parents do.
In short we have different standards now that we can't bear to be with each other for more that a few days.
So I was wondering what everybody else would prefer. To send a child to private school or public school?

I think children in public schools are more "street smart" too.

Depends on the situation. When we lived in Los Angeles, I had my girls in a private school. Didn't trust the public school system there. Up here in Sacramento, they are all in public schools. The schools are better here. The districts are smaller. The people really care...

Here in our country public school is better if you can have above average grades. That means you get the best treatment and education, not to mention the best facilities and also a larger chance of going into competitions. If your not one of those kids it's better if you get into private school. State colleges are also the best schools. If you can't get in private Universities are not that affordable.

I Prefer private school. I didn't faced problem like you. I am my brother went to same school which is a private school. I want to send my child to a private school. In public schools, system is waste. Their facilities are poor. Their system should be changed. And the faculty is also pretty weak. Due to all this, no student gets enough knowledge to sustain in the world.
So i choose private school

I think every parent would like their child to have the best. It's just a shame that not everyone can afford 'the best'.

Yes public school is cheaper, although most suggest that kids should enroll in private day cares so when they are ready to go to school they'd be accepted to the top classes in public schools. That way you'd be sure to get the best education for your child.
