If you have a friend in the world of politics

The Philippine National and Local Elections is coming. And the campaign period for the Presidential and the Vice Presidential posts is about to start next week, if I am not mistaken. Some people have their bets and have already decided who they'll vote for. Some are still weighing all things, like the platforms, their promises especially to the poor. Now, what I wanted to hear from you my dear mylot friends, are: "Do you know someone who is running for any posts?" or "Do you know someone (as in personally you know him, say a friend or a relative) who is already holding an elected posts?" or "Will you vote for someone, because he is your friend or relative?" If you have a yes answer to these, "Is it an advantage to you, personally, having a friend in the politics?" or "Will you set aside friendship or the relationship with a politician, talking about politics?" Please share your views? By the way, I hate politics...

If a friend or anyone I personally know will run for public office I will only vote for him if he deserves it, otherwise, even if he is my friend or relative I will not support him at all. I think as a responsible citizen of this country I should know how to use my right to vote honestly. Why should I vote for someone even if he is my friend or relative, or neighbor if I know he is not capable or if I know he will not be a good leader? I owe it to God and to myself to be honest in all the things I do.

you think he will be a good leader as you personally know him, because he is a friend. you know he deserves the position. but you know he will only lose as the other candidate is more popular or powerful and rich. will you still vote for your friend?

I agree with you. in politics they maybe good at it but i am sure it's only the tip of the ice berg and they always have this agenda more than they are portraying.

Hello neildc, NO, and i think it's better that way because those people in the politics can be trouble some indeed. i know some are actually benefitting from having a friend in politics but there's always cons there, like they get wind up into their scandals, even if they're innocent. if i knew the person and his/her ideals are for teh good of the people then i will vote for that person and not because that person is my friend.

even if you think that your good friend deserves the position he runs for, but you think he will not win for the sure winner is more powerful, in connection and in money, will you still vote for him?

Nope. i don't think so, and even if he forcesly bribes me i still won't vote for him and keep the money(what a devil me) if he's too powerful then let those other friends vote for him, he doesn't need my vote at all if he's powerful. i prefer people with vision and ideas more and not too much with this powerful crap

what i mean is: your friend is more deserving for the position, but he will only lose it, because the other candidate, although less deserving but powerful and has a lot of money. will you still vote for your friend? will you still vote for the one who will surely lose?

Hi neildc, by d by i too hate politics. I dont look who is standing in election, better i consider what is standing. A fool or a genius, a socialy responsible person or a self centred. We need a govt of people, by the people and for the people. Its my thought. Anyway once i read POLITICS IS THE LAST SHELTER OF A FOOL. Thanks.

I will be so happy if i have friend in politics. Because i love politics. I believe a politician can change one country condition. But it's so bad that maximum politician is bad. They use there power in bad way. And they just think about them self. But they should think about the country and about the people. When i see that a politician is not working perfectly then feel to be politician. And teach them about the responsibility of politician.

and maybe, if these bad politician goes to the limit, people will move and let them know that they are wrong. and so there are rallies, people power to teach them a lesson. but i will never think of getting into politics, just to let the bad ones know they are wrong or i am better than them.

It is very much advantageous to have a politician friends or relatives. There will be big opportunities for you in any matters considering that if he/she will win he/ she might have political power influence and you can benefit from it. But we should take precaution, we should support only the good advocacy that he/she will make, not the advocacy that will only have the intention to gain personal interest.

I am not a filipino but I can answer this in a general angle.I don't have any strong likes or dislikes towards politics as you have. After all it is a way of living for so many people to be in politics.Serving the public in the name of politics is not now trend. Speaking about relatives in politics, yes,I have a relative in it but he won't speak about it in family relationship. He is capable of maintaining in a separate track and I didn't approach him as a politician.

political can running because influence and someone became a politician because of his influence. So as member a society, in choosing the candidates, I choose my candidate based on him influence in the community ... And if I have a friend who went into politics, of course I am very happy to help him get influence in the community

I hate politics too :( it sucks. Politicians are like lawyers but the only difference is they carry a flag in their hands. :(

some of them or most of them are lawyers. what saddens me more are those politicians who don't even understand the law, and will call themselves politician because they got money, but no brain.
