What do you think about world terrorism?

I personally think that terrorism is primarily driven by religious figures and very good and manipulative leaders. The terrorist acts are actually done by weak and naive persons, that see in their leaders their saviors. I think that they are being brainwashed because I can't imagine any person, that is healthy mentally, wanting to blow them selfs up for no reason of their own. Does anyone share my opinion? If not, please tell me your opinion, because I'm trying to figure this thing out!

If they blow up things, they must have a reason.

OK. Thanks for your response. But what, in your opinion, is their motivation?

I think terrorism has nothing to do with religion as all religions believe in God and terrorism is related to ambitious people trying to fulfill their desires of politics and dominance by using Rebellious people and arms.

Salaam everyone!! Islam teaches peace. I understand that many of you have been blinded by the media due to 911 and other missfortunes. The media only wants to turn people away from Islam, not bring anyone into Islam. God makes one a Muslim, so the media is truly wasting their time. If someone is going around killing others, they should not go around saying that they are Muslim because this is a misrepresentation of Islam and Muslims. A person is only Muslim when they are doing something righteous, not something to harm others. Surah 90 Ayat 5 of The Quaran says:"Thinketh he that none Hath power over him? ...Thinketh he that none Beholdeth him? Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?--And a tongue, and a pair of lips? And shown him the two highways? But he hath made not haste on the path that is steep. And what will explain to thee the path that is steep? (It is:) freeing the bondman; Or the giving of food in a day of privation to the orphan with claims of relationship, or to the indigent (Down) in the dust. Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. Such are the companions of the Right Hand. But those who reject Our Signs, they are th (unhappy) companions of the Left Hand. On them will be Fire vaulted over (all around)." As I am sure that you are thinking, the word of God speaks for itself. Obviously, Islam does teach peace.

I personally think that at the root, religion has very little to do with terrorism. It's like suggesting that cults are actually based in religion. To me, that's all that an organized terrorist cell is-a group of people who subscribe to a belief system that is based on a perverted, skewed view of the world, who believe the word of a megalomaniac leader with a massive inferiority complex, and perhaps undiagnosed psychological problems. People who fall into this sort of thing usually have many negative traits/experiences in common, such as feeling like outcasts and wanting to belong to something "greater", and a sense that the world has done them wrong, or owes them something, or deserves to be punished. People like this are easily lead, and you could probably convince them to follow any "path"-but religion has a "righteous" feel to it, and you can interpret it however you like.

As I said before .. I think that the members of terrorist cells are mentally insane. I can't imagine a person that would kill himself for something that is not his, believing that he will go to Nirvana, Heaven or whatever ... Thanks for your response.

Yes, they are taught that killing others who do not believe as they do will get them into paradise. Now what do you think of a religion that teaches that? Is it a good one? How should we deal with this? Wait for it to happen some more or do something?

Education sure is a big factor ... especially when there's nobody there to do it right, the individual tends to join in if he is led to believe that that's where he belongs and where he fits in. Pretty sad.
