Missing my friends on Mylot

OMG - I have been disconnected from the Internet since Monday morning. I went thru mylot withdrawals going simply crazy. I lost internet connection and the people at Qwest were giving me the run around for all 3 in half days. Finally someone was suppose to come to my house yesterday between 1pm and 5pm. I get a call at 4:40 stating that its a DSL problem that has to be dealt with from another location. So they said it was going to be up again with in 24 hours. It happened but now I'm afraid it can happen again. I have had a computer for close to 10 years in New York and New Mexico and this has never happened to be before. I'm so glad to be back. Has this ever happened to you? I'm not talking about a virus just disconnected from the internet for no apparent reason.

Hi Lelin. Wow that has never happened to me but I have lost internet conection for a month for non payment of a bill....LOL Not the same I am sure but I had withdrawls from not being able to get onto my lot. I have been using a computer since 2000 and I love it. I can't go a single day without some contact with my lot.....LOL Withdrawl symptoms come on quickly.........LOL Glad your back up and running again hope you never lose contact again. Good luck!

Thanks so much! I'm so glad to be back. I too have been connected to the computer at home since at least 2000 and this is the first time for me. Three in half days is a long time to be without the computer for me. I ended up with 1204 emails.

Hi Lelin. Wow 1204 eamils too much for me to want. I have an email account I hardly ever use and I checked it the other day and it had close to that many emails thank God they were mostly spam. Glad to see your back with us I hope you never lose conection again.

Oh it has happened to me a few times and I know it is awful, I felt lost and all alone without my Laptop lol
I am glad that it is all up and working for you again don't worry to much though it does not happen that often, I have to say the longest I have ever been of when this happens is 24 hours

I get like this when I can't be online. A few years back when I was doing mylot very regularly, I wound up losing internet because my then-husband didn't pay the bill, and I remember totally freaking out over it. I have severe social anxiety issues, so online interaction sometimes makes up most of my social interaction period. I get very lonely when I can't get online.
Now, most of my online time is spent on instant messengers or livejournal, but it's still true that I freak out when I can't get online for a while. It's not just me though; my online friends tend to start texting me asking if I'm alive after a day or two!

That happens a lot here. I'm a freelance writer so I earn on the Net. No connection means no earning s for me. Sometimes It could go on for days, too.

I know. Then I'd be forced to go out because it's so hot. I'll be spending money again. Arghh. I just hope that no big typhoon will hit the country because I'm sure I'll probably be offline for weeks.

This happened once, but apparently it wasn't a DSL problem, but a modem problem...From what I could understand, it resulted from me leaving the modem on for too long of a period, and we had to call Bellsouth to help us get it fixed...They told us to disconnect the modem every time we finished using it, lol. -.-

The funny thing on Monday when this first happened and after being on the phone with Qwest for almost an hour she claims I need a new modem. I was furious because I brought the modem back 2 years ago for 100 bucks. Well low and behold the call center rep was wrong. Thank God. I can't disconnect my modem because I have a vonage phone connected to the internet.

My father-in-law had the same problem. Out of nowhere the lights on the router went red. He could not get a connection. We reset the units called technical service and was on the phone for over 2 hours but to no avail they said they were going to send out a tech. He came, probed the wiring, checked the router, still no progress. 'Maybe it's something corporate hasn't turned on.' So we waited for at least one week. Another tech came out and this time replaced the jack and wires. Finally, we saw green. It was a hassle though but since my father wasn't really using his internet, the process of repair was tedious.

hi lelin1123 I was not disconnected from the internet, but my computer was not reading files that were there, and coming up with the starter file is missing or corrupt,so my son had to take my drive home to his own apt, and trouble shootit then brought it'back. I was off line for three days and was going ape because I could not mylot during that time, so now I am short seven dollars of the 39 I need for this Feb.internet bill but still I had 32 so all is not lost. lol lol.It was not a virus just an error on some part of mycomputer.lol.

I know three days away from mylot is really hard to deal with. I really thought if it was not fixed today that someone was going to get a nasty phone call from me at Qwest. I'm glad that didn't happen.

yeah when ever im away from the pc or my internet is down i go crazy.. i can only do a little on my phone and cant do mylot at all on it.. prob the only thing keeping me from totally losing it is that i talk to a lot of mylot people on facebook which i can do on my phone but yeah i cant handle not having the net for long

I hate it when I get disconnected! It makes me mad as a hornet! You pay a monthly bill for service that you get cut off from. It's not like your bill gets adjusted either. I have had some issues with mine here and there but it's usually because of the weather. Glad your back on! Take care.

Well I sent Qwest an email stating that I want credit for 3 in half days of missed service. It was not a problem that they had to come to my home it was a problem from another location. So I deserve credit for not having internet service. We shall see what happens.

We've had some times that our power was off for a few hours, but haven't had too much trouble with our Internet connection going off. The worst time that we've had recently was when our computer crashed and we had to start all over and re-load everything. Fortunately we have back-ups for most of our files and only lost a few things that were not too important. It took several days to get the computer to work again so that we could get back on the Internet. It definitely drove me crazy not to be able to get on the Internet. I like to surf and play games, and visit MyLot every day, and I went through a withdrawal also. We went out and bought a laptop for a back-up in case it happens again.

a few days without the internet? back in november, my internet was shutdown for a month! I got it back the first week of january, but when my internet access was cut of I was bouncing of the walls!

A month I would have gone completely crazy. I don't mind if I'm away on vacation but in the house all the time its my entertainment. I love to look up things on the internet and I'm addicted to mylot. I know I would be ok if it wasn't for mylot. I could deal without the internetfor awhile if it wasn't for mylot.

Something like that has happened to me before. And while working, the connection wasn't helping at all. At that time, I could only access the company homepage and not the internet. And then at home, I didn't have access at that time due to some issues, so it was a crazy moment, lol. I know exactly how you feel, and if I remember correctly, it was my 1st or 2nd year in mylot when it happened. I was actively making discussions at that time and that happened so it was a real bummer. I hope your connection won't be cut off again. Is it due to power shortage of what? Do you know?

I used to have Qwest when I lived in the Southwest and I was less than pleased with the service. If you ever get fiber optic service, go for it! That's what I have now and I've had just one outage in the past year which was easily fixed on my end. Since it's underground it's not affected by the weather, either!
I'm glad you're back, I know how frustrating it can be. Much of our lives are now tied to our computers and it's really disruptive when they malfunction.
