The next "Big Thing"????

I'm working on an article outlining current bands or soloists who have the talent, staying power and whatever else it takes to join the ranks of so many before them. I don't mean to compare any bands to any other bands but bands/artists like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, The Cure, The Ramones.... bands that were huge in their time but who are still gaining new fans everyday, still selling albums by the truckload and will be for years to come, bands who have inspired so many young men and women over the years to pick up a guitar or grab a mic and join the music world. My question is, who, currently....or in the past 10-15 years, do you think has what it takes to become part of this elite corps of artists, writers, musicians, to continue selling records 20, 30, 40 years after they have broken up and gone their separate ways, to continue gaining new, young fans in each new generation. This is totally opinion based, but I am looking for as many opinions as I can get over the next couple of weeks so feel free to throw out any name that comes to you. And if you can offer an explanation why, too, that would help! Again, thanks in advance and I'm really excited to see what everyone thinks!!

I think Europian Music (for example Nightwish/Within Temptation/Ola Svensson) are pretty inspiring. As for Musicians in the States or North America for that matter, the only thing I can think of is Nickelback, and they aren't very popular it would seem. Its a shame really, most of what is coming out is people smashing keys and strings without a clue how to play and think that screaming = singing. And the guys that have the least bit of talent get mutated, win 8/10 of the best hits for the year and over-rated to a point where you just can't escape them. (I'm looking at you, Black-eyed Peas)

Thanks for the thoughts. And I'll admit, I listen to the Black Eyed Peas and Fergie but I don't pretend to think they are brilliant... just mildly entertaining for when I don't really want to be actively involved in my music.

Bang Camero - The are a good solid rock n roll but with great vocals. I think they will be one of those bands that makes it.
