The department of health announces its warning that HIV cases rise up here in the Phil..Most of the victims are young professionals and mostly are I.T professionals working as call center agents. The reason behind is that call center agents are prone to social networking wherein they have a wide access to meet strangers on the internet.Another is that there's a lot of sites out there that offer that kind of services. It seems that Social networking seems so involve in here? what can you say about it.....?

When i first heard of the news, i thought it was funny. I was thinking how on earth would a call center agent be at risk of HIV when all he does is answer phone calls. Not unless the HIV virus has mutated and can now be transmitted through the phone . But personally, i think the news is a bit misleading. Call center agents are safer than the OFWs and those women who spend time in the internet looking for husbands.

I think call center agents are being targeted because of a lot of promiscuity that comes with this job. So what, are they doing surveys on red districts AND call centers now? The data really would be insufficient and it's incomplete.

Yes I agree with lot of promiscuity thing.. I had a classmate who shares about her husband working on a call center and having an affair on one of his co workers.

I am quite sure that even those working a regular job has an access somehow to this site as well, plus the fact, that almost all have access to the net whether at work or at home. I think why they are being pointed out is because they work at night and they are dismissed early in the morning which is very tempting for them to explore what they can do at that time. Many are tempted to get involved in activities that promotes HIV transmission. Being a highly paid employee too makes you afford many things that a regular daytime employee cannot afford. So lifestyle become a bit different already for them and belonging to a very young generation also has some inclination to become liberal in doing those acts as well.

how on earth talking to just phone or facing the internet can be at risk on HIV? unless they are always going out hanging into places who'S people are at big risk of having HIV. i dont think only call centers OR social networking are high risk over this case. anyone one are at risk with HIV specially with those who are open meeting new people and went into u know what i mean. we should be open minded that this disease is a big risk now and practice self responsibility.

This issue is very alarming. Not because call center agents are mainly at risk but because the HIV cases is increasing in our country. I thought filipinos are still conservative, I'm not mainly speaking about PMS but the thought of having multiple partners quite disturb me. Social networking plays a big role but still it depends on the person if she/he will be influence by it. People should preserve self respect, know the person first before engaging deeper. The issue is really disturbing for me, does it mean that if I marry someone I need to require him to take HIV test? This also applies to anyone.

Yes it is very alarming like Hepatitis B and C. The government really need to do something about HIV and Hepatitis. The cases of it is increasing and the information that they are giving in the public is not enough. I do hope that they going to help the victims in medications but sad to say the budget of Department of Health is not enough. We need to inform ourselves regarding these illnesses.
