Roses? Wild Flowers? or no gift at all?

I'm not a big holiday person. Where I live holiday's have turned into "what goofy thing can companies get people to buy this year" event. However a friend asked my opinion on a gift, and so now I have Valentine's Day on the brain (I guess I won't be wondering through the store trying to figure out why everything is pink like I have for the last five years, lol). Anyway when people talk about the types of gift best suited for girls they tend to say stuff like is she a rose type of girl or a wild flower. I think these two choices are pretty limiting considering that the best gift I ever got was a used pair of leather pants. You also never hear folks ask guys if they're a watch or tie guy, like dudes don't want presents. So what I want to know is what type of gift best reflects who you are and what you want? Are you even a holiday person or are you like me and prefer to get or give a random gift just because?
