Some books are very touching and sometimes have the capacity to take in depth to the subjects. I also think some authors are very good in writing books.

I'd have to say that fantasy and science fiction are my absolute favorites. When I was very young, I really loved horror as well, but I've gotten a little out of the horror thing as I've grown older. Of sci-fi novels, I tend to really like the ones that have comedy in them: things like Spider Robinson's Callahan novels and Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'll read just about anything when it comes to fantasy, but I really love Tanya Huff, and I enjoy some of the modern-day fantasy type things.

Personally I love a good romance. However if I am not in the mood for a little romance, I love a good thriller or fantasy book. Mostly I love anything to do with witches, vampires, ghosts, castles, wizards, fairy creatures and the like. I love books that make you think or that take you to different worlds. I love to read though and will read just about anything I am given. I make it a habit to read several times a day.

I like to read books that take place in interesting locations. Spy thrillers and action catch my attention the most but I pick up the occasional romance. I can enjoy anything that is well written with believable characters.

My favorite genre has got to be science fiction. I like it because there are a lot of strong women characters, something often missing from other genres. Science fiction often also deals with a lot of social justice issues, which as an activist I enjoy.

I love reading period; especially inspirational, religious, self help and other pieces. Reading to me is one of the best hobbies you can do if your alone and live by yourself. It can be done mostly solo and by one's self.

I enjoy detective books, skincare books and travel books. I seldom read love novels and such and now I tend to like more exciting books or practical books.

Mostly I like horror and fantasy, especially urban fantasy, but if a trusted friend recommends a book to me, because they think I will enjoy it, I usually give it a whirl. Right now I'm reading the Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chobsky which was recommended to me by two very smart people who read all the time so I know they have a fairly good yardstick with which to measure books, and it's pretty good.

I enjoy reading memoirs. I love hearing all about the interesting things that have happened to people during their lifetimes. I am not a fan of fiction, I'd reather read about reality. I have a lot of memoirs from people whose lives looked interesting to me, to memoirs of personal friends, who have led exceptional lives.

I like to read all types of books but I would have to say that overall I read a lot chick lit books, detective and mystery books (like you) and science fiction. Those are practically the top three types of books that I read. They enterain me so much and I just enjoy reading them.
