a meal's exesses are stored in the fridge until u figure out what to do with them. as each day passes, more and more leftovers occupy the refregerator's compartements. soon ,there will be no space left for storing fodd and beverages. the leftover foods should clearly be taken out as soon as possible. u can get rid of leftovers through proper food managment and allocation. if you can't fine any use of them, might as well give them to your pets or neighbors rather than throwing them away. what about u myLotters what do u do with leftover food?

We usually give leftovers to our dog or cats, it's the most convenient way. But sometimes my mother puts leftovers into fridge and there they lay like 2-3 weeks, sometime even longer. And then the food starts to stink and only then will she notice it and throws it away.

I recycled them.:-) I make paella dishes or shanghai rice for leftover rice. For meat, either I make them as garnish to my vegetables or another main dish like tapa or adobo ( these are Filipino dishes). Fruits, whip a cream and milk and you have an instant fruits salad for desserts. We hardly have leftover vegetables dishes since I only cook a smaller amount compared to viands and rice. Leftover food are stored in fridge for three days the most. If they can no longer be eaten, no choice but to throw it out for chances are they are already spoiled or not good enough to eat. Have a great day ahead, Floridia.:-)

left over make great breakky the next morning depending on what it is, but usually it will get eaten in 24 hrs if not either in the bin or out to the dogs.

I live with my partner in a loft type condominium unit in the south. since i don't have a job, i'm in charge of the household chores such as doing the laundry, sweeping the floor, cooking, washing the dishes, etc... i think cooking is what i do best.. ;p so whenever i prepare something for the day, i always make sure to cook just right for the two of us... whenever there's a left over rice, i cook it the next day for breakfast...

I must say that we use most of all out leftovers here. There might only be three people here and then sometimes my boyfriend will eat over but we sure do use the leftovers every week. On Monday we might have spaghetti but we will you the sauce maybe on pork chops with some cheese. We will use the pasta for a chicken pasta dinner or even shrimp during the week. SO many ways to use your leftovers. If you have leftover chicken maybe have a chicken soup or get pasta and cut it up in a pasta dish. You can do a pasta dish with a lot of different meats. If you have picky kids in the house then this might be hard for you, but you can leave out things the kids wont' like of course.

I never throw away leftover food. I will either eat it the next day for lunch or use it to make a different meal the following evening. If I really am stuck to get the food eaten I will feed it to the dog, obviously depending on what it is. My favourite thing to do with leftovers is make a stir fry. I find this is an extreamly versatile meal that can be made with using any meat and vegetables, and it is so easy to cook.

Hello floridia and welcome to mylot. I hope you enjoy your time here. It's a great place to make friends and exchange ideas and information. For the left over food first I try not to fix enough to have left overs unless I have plans for it. If I do end up with food that I don't think will be eaten in a day or two I freeze it for a later date. I will put food together for a Prepared meal like those TV dinners. There is very little food that can't be frozen. I hate to throw food away. It is jut too expensive.

I pretty much never let leftover food go bad. I put things away in small containers, mostly sized for my son's consumption, so that often the previous day's dinner becomes a toddler snack or two, or if there was enough left over, lunch for both of us. If I'm making something that will have a lot of leftovers, then I'll plan to freeze it from the start, and then just use it for a dinner at a later date, usually about a week or so later when we want the same thing again.

I try to compost what I can and the rest I throw away if they go bad. I have two dogs but don't give them leftovers because I don't want them to get diarrhea or throw up in the house and that causes them to beg for human food when we are eating and shortens their lifespan. Usually I try to make 'just enough' food so that if there are leftovers, there aren't a lot of them.

I don't understand why leftovers would keep building up. You have leftovers, store them, and then eat them. If leftovers are building up, it means you are constantly making more food...which isn't necessary if you have leftovers in the first place. My family never wastes or throws away food, we always finish our leftovers.
