The Obama store at Union Station, Washington D.C has called it a day and closed down. Is this a sign that Obama mania has run it's course, or just a sin of an economy that cannot support Obama mugs and Obama t-shirts? Now a little of my opinion. Obama and his supporter are to say the lest not friends of capitalism, yet the Obama store was created because of that evil capitalism. Capitalism is all about providing goods and service as best, as cheap, and as fast as possible that customers want. When the customers do not need or want certain goods or services, those goods and services disappear, like wagon wheels. This has been described as the invisible hand of the market. Same with the Obama store, Obama supporters wanted goods like t-shirts and mugs and the owner/operator provided such goods. For what ever reason the customer base that created the need for the Obama store have disappeared and wit that the Obama store. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/blogs/yeas-and-nays/Closing-shop_-_The-Obama-brand_-doesn_t-sell-83590802.html

Obama was a fad that went terribly wrong. I live in the democratic corner of a republican state. I used to see Obama bumper stickers all the time. I noticed they are becoming fewer and fewer these days. I do, however, see an occasional Bush one still.

spalladino gave you your best answer, but it is true that the political momentum of Obama's election is waning. The very people that need Obama to succeed in his vision of America are the ones who may not be able to afford mugs and T-Shirts on a whim right now. I'm sure, ironically, much of the store's inventory has been purchased by opportunistic investors who would just as much like Obama's legacy to be negative, so long as it was memorable and capable of letting them sell the collectibles at a high profit.

The customer base in that particular location would be tourists...and tourism is down all over, including in D.C...so there have been fewer customers in general. The street vendors, who also sell Obama items, may also have cut their prices in response to the sagging economy, and outpriced the store at the station. If you've never been to D.C., there are street vendors everywhere and they compete heavily for every dollar.

Just look at Obama's poll numbers if you want to know why the store closed, sales are sure to follow popularity.
