In most Asian countries like Philippines and Korea, dog meat eating is part of their culture. The meat is believed to give them extraordinary energy and also serves as an aphrodisiac. They even breed dogs for consumption and not for pets... What is your point of views about this?

I have to be honest and say I think this is terrible. I know many people probably argue that why should it be different to eat a dog rather than a cow? An animal is an animal...meat is meat. But I just believe there are some animals that are meant to be eaten, and some that aren't...domesticated house pets (dogs, cats)...even horses...are not animals I believe should be eaten. I'm not a vegetarian, even though I wouldn't mind not eating meat...but I also don't like to eat fish. There's just something about them...I like them a lot as pets. I think fish are beautiful, and I own 4 Beta fish. I could never eat fish. As to their belief, I have to respect it but I think it is absolutely wrong.

Hello, LilyoftheThorns. Thank you so much for being the first one to share your honest view about this matter.:-) I do agree with you. Sadly, even if there is a law that protects animal welfares such as dogs, cats, etc. there are still people who are truly adamant and simply doesn't care at all... Dog trading is still rampant though It is illegal. Why? because the traders are earning a hefty amount of money out of it!!!

Oh! So it's illegal to eat dog meat there but people still do it? I did not know that! I wish the law would do more to protect animals; harsher punishments, etc.

Well, I'm looking at my dog right now and even if you covered her in chocolate, she doesn't look very appetizing! lol Seriously though, I think this is cruel and disgusting. However, I do eat beef, pork and chicken. All animals that I like, but still eat. UMMMMM I better quit thinking about this before I become a complete vegetarian!

I think it i digustingly wrong. I am not the kind to tamper or tick my nose in other cultures. But this, it is inhuman. Just because we love beef, does it mean we have that bull for a pet. I don,t think so. Really, and what is up with this, aphrodisiac???????????? Dogmeat, rhinohorn, seahorses. Maybe they should try a pill, that will work better than those defenseless animals. I mean, really. Anyone, can take me on, on this. And i am not trying to be offensive, i only use my COMMENSENSE.

i am from Philippines and eating dog arent part of our culture and we don't breed them for consumption either its just few years back the economy suddenly plunged so low that many people starved and eat whatever they see, these dogs are not bred they are street dogs that no one takes care of and sometimes they are rabied, very few Filipinos eat them and that's because of poverty. some people eat other people too but these behaviors aren't part of our culture. these are just bad times
