I am a retired primary school teacher. I taught for 22 years. Mostly I taught years 6 and 7, but occassionally younger children. Soon I am starting a tax agent copurse, and hope eventually to get part time work in that area. What profession do you have, or are you a student?

I do have a full time job apart from mylot. As I used to try to do this full time when I was jobless, I wasn't disciplined enough so I found work in real life. I am in the IT field where I repair computers for a living. I also do part time work on the side to make ends meet. As I'm learning how to slowly work at home again, I find that having a real life job is important in reminding myself how much I need to work on making money online as well. Thus you learn the value of money and helps make you a better consumer too.

Hi there, icesmile! I have been waiting for discussions about professions for a long time! Glad that someone has started it.....Anyway, I am a freshly registered pharmacist in Australia. I just finished my internship less than a month ago, and right now I am back to my home country Malaysia for the holidays. When I return to Australia, I will be starting my mission of hunting for a job. I have been sharing my expertise here on myLot with people asking for information or tips on medications and medical conditions. It has been wonderful, because I have a chance to share my professional views and build up on my knowledge and confidence (and probably not be legally liable for my advice too!). And most people are grateful to me for it, which is the main reason why I took up Pharmacy in the first place..... Anyway, I have come across some pharmacists on myLot, but unfortunately there are not many and most of those that I know are not active anymore. But well, there are always other myLotters here to accompany me so I wouldn't sulk too much about it....

teaboy/coffeemaker from india. i merely finished my 9th grade and started working as an assistant baker somewhere in chennai when i'm barely 16. i am now 37 and i learned english mostly by having my daily interractions with my bosses whom i used to serve the tea, coffee..etc.. that i'm making. since i stayed in this building for almost 17 years now watching those eloquent, fluent expats from the philippines, US and India i got promoted. would you beleive that by banterring and immitating them, i really learned a lot. now, i am working as an admin assistant. it seem your criterion somehow very high! don't you believe that a teaboy could do the mylotting even?

I think mylot users are from different profession. They may be from different profession but one similarity is there among them and that is passion to write something. So may not they are professionally writer but all have the passion to write something.

My husband and I are both published authors. He has three sci-fi novels out, and I have a cookbook of my family's Danish recipes. We are looking to expand our writing careers; to write more books, and to market the ones that we have out.

I am actually a licensed professional. interior designer to be specific. :D I must admit I am very busy most of the time but I still come to mylot. Mylot has become some sort of therapy for me. I come here to relax when I feel so stressed out. i get to find nice people. I had gotten a lot busier the past months so i had to skip mylot for a long time. i couldnt find time and on my free time, Ijust tried sleeping. I missed mylot during those times so now that I have gained a lot more control over my time, I am back to mylotting!!! :D

I forgot to mention that I am a freelancer and I am home-based so it's really easy for me to grab my laptop and go online. I would never have this much freedom when I go to work on companies..

Well I am electrical engineer, and I work for a big multinational semiconductor company, I like to come to my lot, because I can read what other people think about many different subjects, and even when I am very busy with work these winter days, there is no desire to go out. And of course these days the situation is so bad that you have to make as much money as you can.

I think there are people from all walks of life coming to mylot. But most likely, it doesn't include those people who are actually earning a lot. Most people here wants some additional incomes so they are either from lower income or middle income group. There might be some high income group coming here but should be very rare. I think there are already discussions about different professions going on in mylot.
