I prefer to watch the dubbed version and the English subtitles when it comes to foreign films like Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Most of us here understand English so watching American movies or English movies is not a problem. We do enjoy watching the dubbed version of a movies or a soap operas. The flow of the story are not affected when it is translated to our language.

I personally prefer to watch it in the original language with english sub's, Dubbing just makes it look like a bad kung fu movie to me and gets on my nerves abit. If you know what I mean. But My husband would rather have it dubbed because english isn't his first language, but we both compramise on the issue when it comes about. I think that subtitles keep it more authentic as well because many times in many languages you just can't get the same feel if they dub it, so it sounds really akward at least to me.

Hi there dilipmiester! I have watched foreign language films in their original form but of course with English subtitle. These were good Korean, Thai, and Japanese movies. I also have watched some French and Italian movies that were really interesting. They were in their original form too. No dubbing.

No I have only watched a few. I would rather watched the dubbed versions to better enjoy the movie. It's hard to watch when you have to read what's going on.

If the movie was made originally in another language, I prefer to watch it in the original. Subtitles are much more accurate of a translation than dubs are, which change lines in order to fit with the movement of the character's mouth. Besides that, there is a lot of emotion that the original actors put into their lines, and much of that is lost in a dub.

the emotions are the main things which are missing in the dubbed versions . i agree with you

I always try to watch them in their original language but usually don't bother with their substitles either. Not because I am able to understand various languages but usually I can pick up the gist of a movie by watching and listening to the emotion of how the dialogue is spoken. If I struggle then I will go for the subtitles just to help fill in the gaps but I never watch a dubbed version because it is too off putting with lips out of sync and with accents not fitting the characters.

There are barely a handful of movies which I have only watched once, but then I am a self admitted film geek. As for chinese films well the last one I watched without subtitles would have been the brilliant "Kung Fu Hustle" and before that it would have been various Bruce Lee movies. I suppose in someways because I watch so many movies that it becomes easier to pick up what a movie is about without the need for subtitles.

A dubbed movie is Not what the director intended. I think of it as butchering the film. I love hearing other languages. I appreciate the subtitles so I can understand what is going on.

Always. I tend to find that translated movies are less accurate to what the original had intended, and that the original is better. There are exceptions. One translated Japanese film, ended up being better because one of the main characters in the original had and absolutely awful, ear grinding voice, that drove me nuts. Nails on a chalk board, sand paper against your skin, type of painful voice. In that one case, the translation was better. How the Japanese people could stand watching it, is beyond me.

I've only watched a couple of movies that were in a foreign language in my life that have subtitles. That said, I would rather have the movie dubbed into English than to have subtitles because of the fact that I feel like I miss a lot of the movie because I am spending too much time reading the subtitles and not paying enough attention to the movie. I think that is the main reason that I don't watch a lot of foreign films.

Hi Dilip, Yes, i always watch a foreign movie with or without the subtitles. Sometimes i am distracted with the subtitles. it catches my attention and i just read it and missing the movie itself. so, i better watch the movie without the subtitle for more focus.

Yes my friend. As a fan of different movies, I like to watch the movies in its original language with subtitles. I don't like the dubbed versions as they lose taste of the original ones. Sometimes I watch movies of very disgustingly dubbed version. The original version movie has its original taste. Have a happy movie watching.

Hi dilipmiester!^^ Yes, I watch movies in foreign language with English subtitles. I'm a fan of Japanese movies and dramas and I prefer to watch them in their original audio and provided with English subtitles. It's just like you said, we can better feel the originality, the feelings that the movies and the characters are trying to portray. I don't like watching dubbed movies and dramas because I usually feel like the dubbers' voices don't match with the character. It just ruins my mood and it ruins the story for me. Also, I enjoy hearing how foreign languages are spoken by the native tongue. Like Japanese speaking in Nihonggo. And I also learn from it so sometimes I already have an idea of what the character is saying even if I haven't read the subtitle.^^

I would like to watch the movie in English only rather going for sub-titles. In real words we get better feel because reading sub-titles may trouble you sometimes. But if there is no other option I may watch the movie in the sub-titles also. Mostly movies are in English and if I got some movie which is not in English I will check its online review and if it is good one then I would watch that movie using sub-titles if it is a good one.

While watching the movie i also prefer to watch it in the original language bcoz it will loose that originality hence i can enjoy the movie and try to understand the story by the action if the language is not understandable.

I would prefer to watch foreign movies in their native languages with the aid of English subtitles - be it a Bollywood movie, Korean TV serials, or Japanese animes. I feel this is more authentic than dubbed voices. The original voices of the actors or actresses, tend to portray more emotions than dub artists.

A movie is best when they are seen with the original version. Original means the language as well. I like watching movies in their own languages because sometimes it gives a different feeling and different sense of humor. Besides, subtitles are given to help and I can read quite fast that it doesn't bother me to read while watching.

I also prefer to watch foreign movies in their original language with the help of subtitles. It really gives the feel of the movie and I can learn foreign language too little by little by reading subtitles
